It's not a matter of not wanting great hockey played. My understanding is that it's either the Olympics, or a more spread-out NHL schedule where players won't get burnt out on back-to-back games. Given the choice between those two, I'd settle for the latter. Still great hockey, but for a more extended period of time.
The more hockey the better for me
And getting to see elite players play with other elite players they don't usually play with is awesome
On a big ice Russia eats Canada alive. There is such thing as chemistry. Getzlaf and Perry play years together. Same with Crosby. If he and Kunitz shows same chemisrty as last season, its pretty stupid not to send Kunitz to Olympics with Crosby.
You can fly to Sochi with Canada biggest names or with a team, who can actually win.
The Russians? They better hope Home Ice is to their advantage...because they are bringing the same team to Sochi that got bounced in 2010. Their new additions or improvements to the 2010 team, if you can call it that are Bobrovski, Tarasenko maybe Kuzentsov. There's some doubt he even makes it. Who has to worry more? The team that has yet to win an Olympic gold since the pros got involved or the team that has won 2 of the last 3. And FYI pal, the 2002 Olympic gold was on big Olympic size ice. And over the past 10 years no team has won more gold on big ice than Canada at all IIHF events. so, no... big ice has nothing to do with it.
Neal - Crosby - Giroux
Stamkos - Tavares - St. Louis
Nash - Getzlaf - Perry
Staal - Bergeron - Toews
It will be a travesty if Marty isn't on this team. One of the best ppg players the past decade and can still skate like the wind. I like Neal as my dark horse. We need goal scorers in this tourney and he and Sid already have chemistry.
Nope. Seriously. Hard to say no to more hockey and interesting line combos.
Reminds of the movie Spanglish and the scene between Adam Sandler and Paz Vega (so hot in this movie btw) in the beach house. Adam Sandler makes a point then she's like 'you're right' and he's dumbfounded that she just gave up her stance so easily.
I really love Spezza, one of my favs, but I really don't think he takes Bergeron's spot... TC already has Crosby/Giroux/Tavares to play Spezza's role so Bergeron is there as a shutdown defensive guy that can score and win faceoffs, which is why he'll be there over Spezza, IMO
