Wow, our division seems like a breeze compared to the Metropolitan division.

the arbitrary 5x2/4x5 is dumb. we should play all of our division rivals the same amount of times.

imagine losing a playoff spot by one point because we get extra Detroit/Boston and someone else gets extra Buffalo/Florida?

Just when I thought the geographically impaired division names sounded stupid....who did they consult for this latest slice of stupidity, the Big East?

Love how there's only two teams in the "Atlantic" division anywhere near the Atlantic.

And teams in the Metropolitan Division that are a damned sight closer to the ocean than most in the Atlantic division. Whoever came up with these names obviously failed grade 10 Geography.

Just not good.

I'll continue calling our division the "Northeast plus Florida."

You'd think with division names that were made by someone that just read "Geography for Dummies" being in effect for almost two decades, they'd know where teams are, but then again.....it's the NHL.

Pretty sad how they've found new and sad ways to take a decent setup (four divisions, Norris, Adams, Smythe, Patrick), and **** it up over and over again.

So..all the former Atlantic division teams go to the Metropolitan division, AND all the non-Atlantic division teams from last year are now in the Atlantic Division.

When I heard the 2 division names, I automatically assumed the Leafs were in the Metropolitan division.

I think you mean 3, Tampa, Florida and Boston teams are all on the coast which touch the Atlantic. The gulf of Mexico is still the Atlantic Ocean.

Still going to call it the NE division. Metropolitan looks weak. Pittsburgh will feast on all of them.

Looks like we get extra Montreal and Buffalo. Could be worse. I agree though unbalanced schedules suck especially with the whole wild card crossover thing.

I understand they couldn't call us the Northeast because of those two Florida stragglers, but considering only Boston and Fort Lauderdale touch the Atlantic Ocean in our division, that isn't too accurate anyway.

The "Metropolitan Division" should just be called the Bettman's Boys Division. What the **** is that, the New York Hockey League?

Dumb names.

Reason 1:
There's an obvious geographical trend in the naming of three of the divisions... and then one that's just randomly named the Metropolitan division? That'd be like having three divisions name after former hockey greats, and one names after a time zone. Why change the theme?

Reason 2:
The "Atlantic" division only has two teams (out of eight) on the Atlantic seaboard... three if you count TB (on the Gulf of Mexico side).

Kind of wish they just named the divisions after corporate entities.

With all the famous names and stuff that we have in this game -heck, that you could MAKE. UP. .. we're just the new Atlantic Division?

Pft. we're just the North Meets SouthBeach

well - having the extra Montreal doesn't bother me, we generally usually split the season series anyway, but having the extra Buffalo?
