I guess Lake Ontario is sort of the Atlantic.

Calling us the "Great Lakes" division makes more sense than the Atlantic...

Because then you'd have six teams at least in the Great Lakes region, whereas with Atlantic we have three in the Atlantic region if you count TB..

Seriously, who gets paid to come up with names like these?

Metropolitan division has to be the dumbest thing I`ve ever heard. I would have been more accepting of the Gil Stein division. I refuse to call any of these by the stupid names give, it is not the metrosexual division it is the Patrick. Geeze.

I'd question why the current Atlantic has been named to the Metropolitan Division, but then I realized it's because the league pretty much revolves around the whims of Pennsylvania and New York to begin with.

Yeah, they should just call it the AmTrak House League Division. ****ing joke to let those teams have such an easy time with travel while we get lumped with Florida.

Aren't the Raptors in the Atlantic in the NBA?
Anyways I don't like this new division format and the names in the Eastern Conference.

Not a big deal, they're just names but it obviously doesn't make sense. Why change the Northeast because it didn't make sense for 3 of the 8 teams just to name it the Atlantic division where it doesn't make sense for 6 of the 8 teams?

Division names are just labels. Why get so hung up on them?

What should really be happening is this:

Boston, Buffalo, Columbus, Detroit, Montreal, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Toronto

Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, New York, New York, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Washington

see and that makes SENSE. but they didn't want to split up the Philly/Pittsburgh.

but truthfully this one would have worked out a lot better. i like Columbus. and it would be interesting to have Pittsburgh in our division.

Horrible! Bring back the Smythe, Norris, Patrick and Adams divisions.

Terrible names when they had such great ones in the past. “But people won’t be able to easily look at the names and know where they’re located!” Tough, Google’s everywhere now, if you can’t figure it out you probably aren’t worth expending the extra effort on.

Just pretend "Atlantic" is short for "Atlantic-St. Lawrence Seaway".

Everyone is just going to call it the Metro division, which is even worse.

They are, but with New York, Brooklyn, Boston, and Philadelphia. All cities on the Atlantic Ocean or very close to it.

Pittsburgh and Philadelphia were actually split up between 1993 and 1998. And if Toronto/Montreal, New York/Boston, Detroit/Chicago can be split up, and some of those arrangements lasting for decades, I say **** em.

1) Division names are brutal. Absolutely brutal.

2) I'm no math genius--and maybe I'm wrong--but isn't it mathematically easier to make the playoffs for teams in the 14-team West? That doesn't seem right.

3) Why not just keep one of the East teams (Columbus?) in the West to keep things even by conference at least?
