Expansion and US TV-deal

[Mods, please merge with general expansion deal if appropriate]

If expansion is at horizon (as many rumours seem to indicate), one cannot ignore the fact that timing is very close to the years indicated in the Nashville business plan that was revealed during Boots trial eons ago. With that in mind, and for general business sene, it seems likely that if expansion happens the League has been planning and preparing for quite some time.

It is well known that US TV-deal locked for next ten years. If we accept that the League has been preparing for expansion already for some time:

i) Is it possible that the TV-deal has some additional bonus/price increase based on number of households on US markets/markets with NHL presence increasing the economic benefit received by EXISTING TEAMS if American cities are selected for expansion instead of Canadian cities?

ii) Assuming the abovementioned (i) woulde true, is it plausible that nobody has leaked the existense of such a provision to media/public?

most expansion markets would never get featured on nbc, so I don't think it makes a big difference. if they exist.

When the NBC deal was inked Daly mentioned that the loss of Atlanta and at the time potentially Phoenix had no bearing or rebate on the contract.

In all likelihood, the NBC deal has no mandate to add X number of US markets nor would the next Canadian deal would have any impact of adding Canadian teams as well.

Most of the NCAA conference deals have "look-in" clauses where the network can adjust the yearly payment if there is "realignment".

Of course, it's easy to find NCAA documents because public school are subject to FOIA requests; NHL TV contracts aren't going to be as easily accessible.
