what laraque said was he didn't want to play in montreal b/c of the pressures involved in playing in this hockey-crazed city... that, and he loves edmonton.

either way, i love the guy, but i don't want him on our team.

To play with Koivu or Ribeiro,
he would have to play on the first line?
or the second?
or the powerplay?
along the boards AND in front of the net

You have a great vision!!!
One day, you'll get recognition buddy
one day...

(but don't hold your breath, it doesn't worth it for Laraque)

Georges has explained to me that when he said he didn't want to play for Montreal he was referring to 'right out of junior' because of the pressure of playing there. Now that he's been in the league for several years and isn't 21 years old anymore he could handle that much better. He would play in Montreal.

He's also said that he would rather retire than leave Edmonton but I get the impression that it is just a figure of speech for him to say that. His English is very good, but not perfect, and sometimes things come out slightly different than he intends them too.

I don't have any doubt in my mind that he would prefer to stay an Oiler forever but that he would play in Montreal too.

His skating is better than most give him credit for, he's probably in the top 5 for strength in the entire NHL and the 10 times a year he gets into a fight, he's the league's toughest tough guy.

His problem is that he's too nice of a guy, he needs to get mean and intimidate and he doesn't do that. If he would just grab someone and ebat the snot out of him once in awhile he'd be darn near the perfect enforcer but he's too nice and often doesn't react even when provoked.

He's like the big scary dog that kids tease by throwing stones at. Every once in a while he attacks one of them but he doesn't do it enough that the kids will stop throwing stones.

Georges is a decent skater with offensive capabilities when playing with a playmaker. It is ludicrous to believe that He wouldnt look good on Ribs line? Or with Bonk. Or making room for the oft injured Saku.

IN theory, a big tough guy like Georges could make sense because he has better abilities than your average 300 pim, tough guy. The problem is that he'd be playing with pass first centers. This would limit the lines #'s as let's face it, he's not a scorer, and while he'd make Saku bigger, your scoring lines wouldn't score enough. Why wouldn't Edm. have used him with Comrie and Smyth ?
