The answer is not from a team with terrible defense.

Ehm. Newsflash. His contract will matter very little at the deadline.

He will have played 55-60 games already( depending on the date of the deadline). And the Avs will have paid him for that.

The new team is only on the hook for the last 20-25 games...

You are telling me that teams can not fit in Stastny at 2m?

Sure buddy...

For starters, Iginla vetoed a better trade for the Flames. More importantly, Iginla used to be a perennial 40 goal scorer. If we're basing this on what players used to be, Stastny is a perennial PPG, two way forward, so want Eberle.

The Avalanche would, and they don't even need to give anything up!

If you believe Statsny is going to garner anything of value other than some 2nd round picks and hopeful prospect you'll be in for quite a surprise.

His salary isn't even the reason he won't be well received. How about his dumpy stats for one? Go look at what past deadline superstars got in return for a rental and then realize that he's not a superstar.

He's just not that good. And if Gagner gets his bridge to UFA then he has to compete with a better cheaper player as well.

Stasny isn't worth giving up an asset for, and Colorado would never do Stastny for N Schultz.

Oh. I thought he is Luongo bad and untradeable?

Now it is his dumpy stats? Which are better than what Morrow or Iginla or Gaustad or all the other guys who are way older, play a worse all around game and who got a 1st+ (or the equivalent) posted?

Yeah sure. And Stastny > Gagner....

Iginla 40 goal scorer? I don't remember the Flames trading a time machine with Iginla

You forgot Edmonton in that list, but you also said teams in the hunt, so I get the confusion.

Hemsky for 2014 Avs 7th. Done.

Avs have the cap space and can use Hemsky for RW depth maybe even playing alongside our other hot potato Stastny, at least for the 50 or so games he's healthy.

Did I really see Iginla at this stage in his career called a perennial 40 goal scorer? The Luongo situation compared to Stastny?

I was wondering that too, hasn't Iginla has only scored 40+ like 4 or 5 times in his career?

Luongo is exactly like Stastny
except for the length of contract, actual money owed, etc

Stastny for Nick Schultz? Sorry no, he's regressed since getting to Edmonton. We have too many of his type of players on our team already. Adding Nick Schultz doesn't really do much. Where are you going to play him? Third pairing? That's real helpful.

It seems Avs fans see only what they want to see. If you believe Statsny is going to get you a nice prospect and a 1st rounder next year then more power to ya, but expectations are the first steps towards disappointment. I guess we'll have to bump this to see who's right or wrong.

Avs fans believe they can get more than Nick Schultz . You don't need to bump this to see who is correct, because Nuck Schultz isn't going to net you Stastny period.

Coming from the guy who called Iginla a perennial (def: continuing without interruption) 40 goal scorer, I'll go ahead and encourage you to bump this if Stastny gets traded.

Since Gagner is better, its probably best the Oil just lock him up anyway.

Stasny

To Colorado
N.Schultz

Edmonton gets a stop gap #2C that's a UFA in a year and Colorado gets a 2nd pairing Dman that's a UFA in a year.
If Gagner gets the $5.5, why would you want to trade him and then bring in another C who's way crazy overpaid in Paul Stastny, who will also be a FA at the end of the year?

You got me. I suppose we'll have to settle on 30 goal scorer. I'm just glad that you decided to challenge me on that front and none of the other points I made that tore up Statsny like an arbitration hearing.
