Habs fans around the world say no...Pleks doesn't need a "jump-start", he's fine being the excellent two-way centre he is and the Habs are happy to have him...not to mention we're out of buyouts, so Richards' contract is a BIG no all to itself...

Montreal is exactly the type of a city B Rich needs to expose himself to revive his career. A coach like Torts didn't sit well with him, but Therrien is a kind of a man whowill utilize his stars (who are also decent-sized, not 5'7") to their fullest potential. A big playmaking centre who can score like B Rich would be something they might need to spark their offence. Pleks is an all-around balanced centre pretty much equaling as an invaluable asset, but for B Rich, I can see him being moved.

No also from NYR. Can't risk him retiring in MTL early and being caught with recapture.

If Montreal could send a B prospect like Jared Tinordi, I think it would be a good deal for both sides.

I also think the upside of Brad Richards out-weights what Plek's brings, hence the deal being fair.

adding an OK prospect like Tinordi makes it even more appealing to NY.

Not sure why anyone could get the idea that Plekanec's career needs to be revived. Zero interest in Richards' retirement contract.

Jarred is too important to Montreal's future to trade now...unless it's part of a package for a big upgrade, Habs don't do this...

Terrible deal for Montreal. Why does Plekanec need to jumpstart his career? He is worth WAY MORE than Brad Richards.

We don't want that contract of Richards at all. We have no buy outs left either. Even if the contracts were even, would still rather have Pleks.

You honestly think the Habs will add to acquire that contract?

Pleks doesn't need a change of scenery, he needs wingers to work with.

Cap recapture. Cap recapture. CAP RECAPTURE.

Before you make a trade proposal understand what this is. Richards C A N N O T be traded.

They would have to. Why else would the Rangers trade Richards and then be stuck with a $2-3 mil++ cap recapture penalty to the end of eternity?

So essentially he won't be traded. Ever. He will be bought out next year.

why would Pleks need a change of scenery. He's still exactly as advertized, a top-quality 2nd line center with fantastic defensive talent and the ability to play on the top line. He's cheaper, younger and more effective than Richards.

I kinda get with recapture risk that the Rangers would want a plus. It pales in comparison to what Montreal would want added to make the trade palatable. Think Girardi.

Montreal's offense was ranked 4th last season, why the hell do they need a spark?

Did you just come back on your time machine from the future and know something that most of us don't know? When did Thomas Plekanec start needing a jump start of his career?
