God help me no.

Would it be cool to get a doctorate? Yes. Do I need one in my given field? Not on your life.

More than likely need. Argh.

Interview in 8 hours. Rather jittery.

What degree, IT? I'm just about to enter my final year for that. Masters? Hell no.

And I've had to split my time between an internship (unpaid) and a part time pizza delivery job. 7 days a week, what a wonderful "summer vacation". Can't wait to get back to that 19-credit hour grind.

For those with experience in these matters, how long does it normally take a background check to clear?

It all depends on the background check...the ones I had to do during my military career took well over a year to complete; ones I've had done for prospective employees only took a couple weeks.

Exactly.

You has plenty of time to go back and sanitize 11 years of posts. It might be worthwhile to call in some favors at NSA to have some non-hf-sanctioned chat logs purged.

So back in the winter, Canadian Customs gave me grief for crossing the border with a notorized copy of my son's birth certificate. My wife was going up to Toronto the following week with him so she took the original... and it is now missing. **** me. So the long line at the post office to finish passport submission only wasted part of my day for one of my sprites. The other? A new trip to get a re-issue is looking likely. ****. I'm beyond angry right now.

When are you planning on traveling? You can always do the express service in the Buffalo regional office if you need to.

Offer comes in formally tomorrow so we were looking at Sept-Dec in CR. It's not that there is a major obstacle to all of this, just that there is now another trip to some other queue to pick up another form. Just the hassle of it that I find particularly annoying.

I can understand that and then you're at the mercy of the inefficiencies of another government agency

[parental bragging]

So proud of my son. Not only is he testing for his black belt August 10th but today he got asked to be on his school's demonstration team for the tournament in November.

His school's team will be competing against the demonstration teams of the four other schools during the half time show of the yearly tournament in front of well over 1,000 people. It is a great accomplishment for him. Especially since he will be one of the youngest members of the team but one of the few first degree black belts.

Communications and advertising.

Every ad person I've talked to has basically said "If you can spell and form original sentences, we don't care what degree you have."

Thanks. It is a rather amazing thing for someone his age and belt level. It's also great because they pick the ATU Demonstration team from the members of the five school's teams. ATU is a national competition and a huge deal in the Tae Kwon Do community. The team that our owner has sent from his 5 schools has won nationals 3 of the last 5 years for the 15+ group and the U15 team (which is what my son would be on if he gets chosen for ATU) has won once and finished top 5 out of 100+ teams the other 3 years they've gone.

EDIT:
This is the 15+ winning team from our schools from 2011
