Anyone else getting sick of hearing about the Tough Mudder event?

I get it on Facebook. But jeez, there are people here that have their mugs and headbands and crap and it's all they're talking about in this gratingly self-congratulatory tone.

I mean I think it's cool, I really do, but let's be real. You didn't win the medal of honor. You're privileged yuppies who ran in mud and may have experienced a low-grade shock and had tennis balls thrown at them.

Tell Rambo about your adventures after he walks off the airfield in "First Blood, Part 2" non-stop and see how he reacts.

I saw stuff about that. Is it just a thing where you run in mud?

Thankfully my buddy (and coworker) was pretty cool about it. He only talked about it all day yesterday because everybody kept asking him.

I totally understand getting tired of hearing about something, especially something you have no vested interested in.

But other than that, I'm not with you at all.

Disclaimer: I was going to do the tough mudder until I got bruised ribs.

The glories of working from home 90% of the time -- no one has said a damn thing about it here.

Then they switch me into Communications design, which was similar but I wanted out just 1 semester into it, it absolutely sucked. So after that ****** ordeal, my grades weren't high enough to transfer into Ad like they coming out of high school.

And thats how I ended up in IT.

I did have an old high school friend complete an Ironman this weekend. Now THAT is something to brag about.

(I agree with Clock)

I keep collecting tri-people. My running class (miss it) running mate just registered for the NF half-marathon.

Hey, are you planning on moving to WNY when you start the new job?

This is probably one of those things where the context is really important. The folks around these parts are acting as if they just climbed Everest and there's actually a snobby undertone to the whole thing... over a run. I'm not crapping on the event. I think it's a pretty cool idea, actually.

Eh why not get everything done in one week?

In the course of about a month in 2001 me and Pix moved from Rochester to Buffalo, started grad school and then got married back in Rochester. And 9/11 was smack dab in the middle of everything. That was a hell of a month.

Going to be living technically in OP, but on the OP/West Seneca border off Southwestern.

It'll be a bit of a haul to work, but meh. It's a nice place. And it'll be all highway to work.

I mean... I guess it's hard to have a good discussion without having seen what these people have been saying. I know a few people that did it and none of them were like that. They were all just excited to do it and proud/happy to have finished.

Back in Chicago for a few days for a few work related activities (including a roof top deck cubs game on my B-day). It's weird how this still feels like home even after living in wilkes barre for well over a month now.
