Olympic Snubs

What players were snubbed from an Olympic invite in your opinion? Pominville seems to be the big snub for team America.

Pominville? Really? He didn't make the 2010 team either

Hasnt he only represented the US once back in 2008? And outside of the young guys, most of the forwards have been on multiple national times.

Enström is the one that there's been most talk about among the Swedes. Silfverberg is quite shocking. Zibanejad is another young one you'd expect to be considered.

The most shocking thing of all though is to find that Niklas Persson is actually on the list.

His exclusion from the 2010 team was a snub too.

Pominville is the highest-scoring USA-eligible player since the 2005 lockout.

Scoring is just one part of the game.

He's not one of the best American players, that's why he wasn't considered in 2010 or even in 2006. Team USA is run by two of the smartest GMs in the game in Poile and Lombardi

He wore a C on his sweater, and he earned it through his leadership.

There's more to his game than scoring. He's a leader in the dressing room.

Spezza, only players with better PPG then him on the roster are Stamkos and Crosby.

Kulikov, Benn, Ward, Enstrom, Pominville also.

You're talking about his whole career - how is that relevant as to whether he's good enough right now? Benn is a bigger snub than Spezza IMO. As is Cam Ward.

Brodeur. Not saying he should be there, but it's weird not seeing him there for sure.

Evander Kane has no business on international ice. Point of reference, his term at Dynamo Minsk.

Jamie Benn, has a better chance of succeeding than Kane but still Canada still needs more mobility than what Benn can offer.

My biggest snubs are Brent burns for team Canada and Jason pomminville for USA. Really can't figure out how either of these guys didn't get an invite

Just so we're clear no one really got snubbed until they get left off the "long list".

Yeah you know it will be real interesting to see how players in the upcoming season performs. There is no doubt in my mind that Pominville can outscore Parise in Minnesota, at the very worst they will be very close. But is he a top-6 player for the team? Possibly, depends on how Ryan does with a premiere playmaker like Spezza. Is Pominville a bottom-6 player? Possibly, his positional instincts is great and a guy like Pacioretty seems like a good shootingtarget for Pommer in 2013-14.
Either way, i really dont understand how a player like Blake Wheeler is ranked before Jason. They can both play on all lines i guess, but Pominville is much better defensively and probably offensively too. Does not have the size, but on big ice i believe is the better skater.

Yeah, that 12 game stint in a foreign country with unfamiliar players really demonstrates that.
