"MLS clubs were notified around the start of the year that Bradley was available and clubs were instructed to let the league know if they were interested. Given its financial muscle, and with new Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment CEO Tim Leiweke eager to turn around the struggling club’s fortunes, Toronto F.C. quickly moved to the front of the line.
But sources told ESPNFC.com that Bradley had been looking for an exit even before Nainggolan’s arrival, with his lack of playing time in a World Cup year his primary concern.
Sources confirmed that the proposed financial commitment TFC is making is considerable. MLS is poised to sign Bradley to a contract in the five to six-year range at an annual salary in the neighborhood of $6.5 million. There was conflicting data in terms of the transfer fee, with one overseas source indicating that Roma expects to receive $7 million. But multiple MLS sources stated that the league expects to pay in excess of $10 million. Much like Dempsey, Bradley likely found it impossible to turn down such a lucrative offer.
As for MLS, it amounts to another major coup, as the league can now claim to have the top three U.S. players –- Bradley, Dempsey, and Landon Donovan –- all playing in North America."
WOW! Just read the article, this came out of nowhere! This is a huge huge coup for TFC. Getting Defoe and Bradley wow..kind of shocked to be honest. Where was this financial commitment in the past? 6.5 to 7 million a year on a 6 year contract for Bradley is huge. Like I said I wish TFC made this kind of commitment earlier in their history. But hey better late than never, hopefully it pans out on the pitch and we make a run for a championship.
