A lot of Tfc dp rumors going around, . For Gilberto signing as a DP he was seen at the leaf game and raptors game, TFC has 3 dp slots open, with there allocation they can buy Leba contract down and make him a none DP

Also a lot of rumors of Defoe coming in...

Not sure if this has been posted but TFC has been using Drake to lure players

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/eh-...203216910.html

Jermaine Defoe could give this team a small boost from mediocrity, however one player does not make that much of a difference if the rest of the team isn't that great. It is refreshing to see Leiweke trying to make the team better, the guy went to Europe to "try and find some players" haha.

Gilardino would be a much needed addition as well to deliver a nice two striker system that could be quite dangerous in the MLS.

I'm not sure how serious Leiweke was about his statement that he would bring somebody as good or even better than David Beckham, it would be a blessing to Toronto FC. It would attract fans back to the games, and the product would be of higher quality.

Toronto FC has an MLS standard defence, however they need a few good midfield players. A player like Lampard comes to mind who will likely leave Chelsea when his contract expires, and TFC should jump all over that! Another player that has his contract expiring is the 34 year old Andrea Pirlo, who fits under the criteria of being in David Beckham's league.

Another guy they have been rumoured to be interested in is Eto'o, though I'm not sure how that would work since he is under contract with Chelsea.

I don't know about that. I've been reading Spurs might be dragging their heels to ensure a replacement and AVB has been playing him more so that might affect things. Maybe it's that I just watch the EPL exclusively so I'm not that familiar with similar types of players in other leagues, but I want to see an EPL name that I recognize.

Toronto FC announced Friday that it has acquired a 2014 first-round MLS SuperDraft pick and a 2016 third-round MLS SuperDraft pick in exchange for the rights to midfielder Bobby Convey and a 2014 second-round MLS SuperDraft pick.

What about Defoe and Gilardino?

Gilberto is interesting... A 24 year old Brazilian striker, I wonder how he will do

Well it doesn't look like both now. Hopefully they get, at least, one of them. Starting to feel like this summer all over. Talk about big names and then get a smaller name. Maybe Gilberto can last AND play in more than a couple of games

Seems like an epic fail.

What they really could have used was a big name like Defoe or Gila and instead sign a fairly unknown Brazilian..... TFC style ftw

Did they sign Gilberto over Defore or Gila? Or is it likely they can sign one of them too?

We can still sign either one of them, likely Defoe.

I think you're underestimating Gilberto, he's being looked at by management to be the new face of a new era.

Source: La Gazzetta dello Sport

According to latest rumours reported in Italian media, Toronto FC management have agreed with Genoa on having Italian international striker Alberto Gilardino (31) transferred to them, on a 6 million euros payment, after World Cup 2014. Former AC Milan and Fiorentina scorer would earn about 3 million euros a year, but his ultimate approval on the trade is yet to be given.
