Why? It's not allowed anywhere else.

What's interesting about fighting? One of the great things with hockey is that the score can change at almost any time, that wherever the puck is, there can be a huge scoring opportunity seconds later. When a fight is going on, it just delays the next faceoff and kills off that part of the excitement.

And that's without even considering the roster spot taken by the fighter (unless a good player is fighting, but who pays to see a good player get a game misconduct?).

Same rules as NHL.. it shouldn't be hard now IIHF and NHL are making business together. 5 min and that's it...

By the way,, which country has worst fighters? Czech? Finland? or France?

haha what? IMO one of the greatest things about hockey is fighting, I do not know anyone that sees fighting in hockey a delay or non-exciting. Every fight Iíve seen the whole arena stands on their feet and claps and cheers. Without fighting who would stand up for the star players. What about the term enforcer... every team Iíve played for has had a player that just fights and protects.

Far is Olympic hockey goes, I say no fighting just for the respect of each country

maybe this will help

Sure. We bring Douglas Murray and wins the Olympics. No-one dares doing anything when they know Douggie is on our side.

"Protects" from the other team's enforcer.

I wouldn't mind seeing it allowed. Granted, I'm pretty sure the only games that have fights would be ones where one of the teams is Canada or USA.

Well, now you know me. Why should I have an unprofessional jersey pulling, ice dancing, trying to hit something fight interrupt an entertaining game? If I want to see a fight I can go to watch a fight, not a hockey game.

I am more afraid of Victor Hedman's face expression or Henrik Sedin willingness to take a beating. Like the character Baer's behaviour in Cinderella Man. But above all, the ice is BIG outside northern america. Even figure skaters from NA get the shivers.

Something I always find funny in international competitions is Euros always shoot after the whistle like its no big deal and NA players reacting to it because in NA game it's a huge no-no to it

I would love for fighting only resulting in a 5 min penalty. It's my main gripe with euro hockey.

Nope, fighting shouldn't even be a part of our game IMO.

Not in Olympics. It cannot fit in what Olympics are and they are greatest sports tournament ever existed and ever will exist.

In hockey-only tournaments? Yes

How much fighting do you see in the playoffs? How much fighting do you think there would be in the olympics?

I'd hate to see it. The Olympics and WC's are the only chance I get to see the world's best players without the mindless violence that the NHL loves to embrace.

BTW - the last NHL game I attended live was in the late 90's at Maple Leaf Gardens. I walked out after a Tie Domi fight were he knocked out a Black Hawk player. I was disgusted and had no desire to be sitting with the type of person who would cheer at the sight of another person being assaulted.

Why? The playoffs basically don't have fights, and it's still the most exciting part of the hockey year. No need. (And I'd hate to see Team Canada pick Colton Orr over Jason Spezza!)

This.

Not only it interrupts the game, but IMO hockey players fighting just look... stupid - aesthetically speaking. Sure, there are and have always been 'tough guys' and 'great fighters' in hockey, but give me a good-quality boxing match any time over that 'ice-wrestling' nonsense. Of course, hockey is an intense and fast sport, so emotions will flare up, and if there are a couple of punches thrown occasionally, I don't mind too much - just as long a fight hasn't been set up, and the refs will take care of the situation quickly, so that no one gets really hurt.

Arrgh, I especially hate when the (Finnish) media/papers often jump on the bandwagon and start inciting that crap with things like "well, tonight x meets y, who will get his lights punched out?" already BEFORE some game.
