KHL's HC Donbass' arena burned, robbed by armed 'terrorists

wyshynski 2:23pm via twitterfeed New Puck Daddy: KHL's HC Donbass' arena burned, robbed by armed 'terrorists' yhoo.it/1mmFPWa

Here's another example of force majeure. Not impacting playing, but will be a cost to "get things back to where they were" in time for season start.

I do have to wonder what minimum requirements the KHL has for insurance for such things.

Sadly, I think HC Donbass will miss the next season.

Whoever is responsible...this arena fire might well be the coup de grace on any KHL hockey in Ukraine next season...as the KHL has been fearing this for some time.

Its a nice team and a nice little arena. It would be shame to lose them. Lets hope the situation stabilizes soon enough. Loosing one season is nothing in terms of long term peace and stability of the region and the team.

Well, the arena itself shouldnt be the biggest problem. I doubt they will allow them to compete in the next season due to security issues.

Poprad (City) offered own arena to Donbass for 1 euro for whole season.. so if there will be still security issues and KHL allow it, they can play there.

Realized that as well, but it should also be a good PR-move for Poprad too?

Poprad is largely dependent on tourism. This is one of the possibilities how to increase the attractiveness of the city (based experiences with Lev ) ..
