There's not the faintest chance of this happening. The Wings don't need more bottom-six players, at all, and they certainly wouldn't exchange Nyquist for such even if it were otherwise. That would be insane.

I'll counter with Tootoo for a 4th.

I must have overlooked the #1/2 dman that was in this package as that's the only way the Wings move Nyquist. And Nyquist would just be a piece in a package, a big piece but a piece the same.

Spaling= Tootoo ( wash)

Smith is close to value with Nyquist

Nyquist has better numbers in NCAA , but Smith has produced more in the NHL + over ppg during limited AHL duty. They are both the same age

What would Nash have to add for Nyquist ?

Spaling , Beck, Ellis + 2nd for Tootoo, Nyquist ??

I'd find it hard to believe Smith has better numbers than Nyquist in the AHL. IIRC Nyquist is the only player to be above a P/G in the AHL in the past 2 seasons.

If I'm trading Nyquist to Nashville it's in a package deal for Josi. We already have a crowded forward corps & those players you offered bring nothing new to our prospect pool.

only preds that interest the wings are your top 4 d and forsberg. literally no point in proposing anyone else. if you want to be taken seriously, you'd start with klein for nyquist (not that the wings would do that)

Smith has a whopping four games in the AHL, so give us a break. That's not even nearly enough data. As for his performance in the NHL, he had a decent 2012-2013 season playing top-six minutes and on the power play---but only decent, all things considered. And his production dipped drastically in 2013. Nyquist, in contrast, has been kept deliberately overripe in the minors and has nowhere to go but up. His excellent showing in the playoffs only reinforced this notion.

As for your second suggestion, the Wings do not need more players at this stage.

To the proposal NO if it needs to be said.

Wings as was said might move some good prospects for top 2 d man I dont even think top 3-4 would get a top prospect or two of them at all one and draft choice maybe jeez.

Top 2 d man you can get two good prospects and a early pick but that is about it.

Even in huge salary dump unless you took all of them samuelsson tootoo emmerton and bertuzzi we might give you two top prospects no draft pick for two guys projected to be top 4 material and another guy whom is top six.

Yeah, Detroit doesn't do that, it's to lopsided in Nashville's favour IMO.

We have Clune, Hendricks and Nystrom, why do we need Tootoo?

Deal deal deal deal deal.

This isn't about Tootoo guys, this is about Nyquist. No way Detroit gives up on him, he has serious talent.

The Wings already have 16 forwards and they are trying to get rid of some. You think ADDING more bottom 6ers is going to make this more enticing for the Wings?

Nyquist>>>>Smith. Just because Smith came into the league earlier due to weaker organizational depth does not make him better.

Also not sure where you are getting your AHL numbers because Smith has a total of FIVE points in the AHL. Gustav Nyquist has 122 AHL points.

Don't make up lies to support this awful proposal.

He never said Smith outproduced Nyquist in the AHL. He just said he was over a point per game during a brief stint. While technically that is true, using a four game sample size is not a fair way to compare one player to another. I mean, in Smith's first two NHL games he scored at a 2 ppg pace.

Yeah I'd do this deal even though I really do not want Tootoo back, especially at his cap hit. Nyquist would be a great pick up. I don't see Poile being able to fleece a team like he fleeced Washington to get Forsberg. Not again.

Yeah... no. Value aside, Detroit needs to move two forwards off the active roster, as is. No way they're able to add anything up front.

Yeah, who would want anything from the 2012-2013 Calder Cup Champions?

Those Red Wing prospects are really overrated
