Nolin: 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 8 SO

Strikeouts were there. Has struggled the last three outings with keeping men off base.

Boyd went 3 clean innings striking out 3 in one of Lansing's two games today. In those two games DS Jr. went 6-7, 2 BBs, 4 Rs, 2B, HR, 2 RBI. Lopes in those two games went 4-7, 3 Rs, 2 2B, HR, 6 RBI.

Rowdy Tellez seems to be showing patience at the plate (9/7 K/BB ratio) but he hasn't been hitting at all yet. Chris Rowley put up another solid start there (yes he's a '90 in rookie ball): 5 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, 5 Ks

DJ Davis had a terrible day going 0-5 with 5 Ks. He now has 45ks in 35 games at rookie ball. Mitch Nay went 2-4 and is now over .300. He hasn't shown much power (11 XBH in 136 ABs) but his plate discipline (22/15 K/BB ratio) has been a lot better than expected.

Melky on the DL. Wagner recalled.

I am baffled as to why he was recalled in the first place if he wasn't healthy. This organization with evaluating injuries...

Not just a one time thing. Day to day injuries turn into months. Guys are rushed back too.

When I saw JJ was pitching, I decided to go to bed. Looks like it was the right decision.

Johnson is the new Romero

Think about how much combined trade value those two would have had 2 years ago

Now they're not even replacement level players

Just curious, is Melkys body breaking down because he stopped using PEDs? Man he looks bad. Rasmus has such good range but terrible arm.

To think how much money Johnson's poor performance has cost himself this year. Yikes.

I'm trying to remember another situation where a pending free agent was in line to cash in big time in free agency only to crap out and have to take a fraction of any potential earnings.

The sad thing is I could see a team giving him over $7M, even $10M per season just based on his past success.

His fastball isn't what it was. A power pitcher who drops a few ticks on his fastball is going to see his secondary pitches become less effective as hitters don't fear his fastball anymore. It's the reason when you look at longevity that guys like Buerhle can last forever while power pitchers don't have a long shelf life in comparison.

well let's just hope and pray it's boston , NY or baltimore

that could significantly swing the division next year, say if boston picks him up.. the jays could win 4 more games against them and then boston would lose an extra 10-15 games throughout the course of the year

I think it's a good possibility that's the case. It depends how long he was taking them too. Could have been doing it in KC.

Maybe MLB will lifetime ban Melky to take that contract out from under us like the Yankee's with A-Rod

How many missed throws has Bautista made this season? He seems to be getting worse at throwing guys out or am I just going crazy?

It's amazing that he has done next to nothing as a Jay this year. Rajai would have contributed more had he been given the everyday LF job. Maybe even had a few extra wins.

The Outfield Arm Runs Above Average metric says he's been more effective than last year, and is having his second best year throwing runners out from RF.

This Offseason: It is time for the Blue Jays to look themselves in the mirror and realize that as an organization, they can not develop pitchers.

This is an organizational problem. Guys come here and completely lose their stuff. Prospects that develop from within blow out their arms. This is something that seriously needs to be addressed.

How Jays develop players, not just pitchers needs to be looked at.

Do we even try to develop players? It seems like we are content just finding toolsy players and then leaving them to their own vices once in the system.

Today's blog article does a little extra legwork to examine whether or not there's a definitive link between star players leaving Toronto and fans' interest level in the team. Y'know, just in case this whole crazy "maybe they should trade Bautista" idea actually has legs.

Now your seeing the fruits of AA drafts starting to creep up the higher minor leagues or players he targeted in deal such as Gose, Drabek among others and aren't panning out or injury prone.

Sure getting toolsy guys are great the so called "Athlete" but you need to find baseball players guys who understand the game and have a feel for it.

Look at the minor league depth and the position players are sorely lacking where is that next impact positional player in the minor leagues the sure bet to make it?

There needs to be a review of the organization from top to bottom but the problem with the Jays is ownership isn't emotionally invested in this team nor is it their money its a corporation so no skin for them to worry about the team as long as the content on their media platforms is good who cares what a minor league in New Hampshire is doing. Who does AA and Beaston answer to? A board of directors who probably have very little if any baseball experience or even desire to know about it.

Now if you were a single owner such as Mike Illitch you would want to know what is going on in the minor leagues and where his money is being spent.

I truly believe the Jays need to bring in some veteran baseball men with years of experience. I just think AA is over his head and hasn't surrounded himself with enough MLB experience.
