Even know a trade between those 2 teams would never happen. Do you think that this trade would be even in term of value?

To Colorado: Gustav Nyquist

To Detroit: Tyson Barrie

Value is ok I guess. But it makes no sense for the Avs to do.

Value wise it isn't that bad but imo DET needs to add some.

Avs offense is kind of stacked already, no need for Nyquist and D is the biggest weakness.

Makes no sense for the Avs, but I guess the value is about right.

No from a Detroit POV, they value Nyquist very highly and they are stocked with young d men/ D prospects. Just doesn't make sense to do it.

I'm very high on Barrie and moving him would weaken our already extremely weak defense. Value wise like you are asking it might be good but it doesn't as far as I can tell it doesn't fill either teams needs.

We value Barrie more than Nyquist, but in a vacuum it might be fair given how good both project to be.

I don't think it makes sense for either team. Colorado is stacked up front, Detroit is stacked on the back-end. Red Wings are going to need Nyquist to develop into a top 6 guy in the near future.

Value wise, Nyquist is probably higher than Barrie at this point. But the trade just doesn't happen based on needs and the unknown of what Barrie could be. Barrie could be a #2 or #3 and it's not worth it for the Avs to give him up here.

Well there is still around 10 mil in cap space.

After Nyquist would be signed, little under 10 mil.

Sign Grabo for 4 mil and Brunner for 3 mil and Prospal/Morrow for what is left.

ROR-Duchene-PAP
Tanguay-Stastny-Landeskog
Nyquist-MacKinnon-Downie
Mcginn-Grabo-Brunner
Sgarbossa, Prospal/Morrow

Then win every game 6-5 or 7-6.

Barrie is 2 years younger and out produced Nyquist last year as a defenceman. At this point Barrie holds more value but I'd say its pretty close.

From an organizational standpoint it's an easy no from the Avs.

Barrie should hold more value than Nyquist at this point. Nyquist is 23 and has 13 points in 40 NHL games in his career. Barrie has 13 points in 42 NHL games in his career as a defenseman and led the Avs defense in minutes per game as a 21 year-old rookie last season, averaging 21:34 per game with regular minutes on both the PP and PK. Now part of that was Sacco's screwy defensive depth chart but a lot of people really aren't aware how solid this kid is.

Nyquist certainly has great upside and I'll give you similar value for their respective teams but in a vacuum, Detroit would add imo. As it is, sounds like both teams say no.

Was Nyquist an overager? Shouldn't he have been one of the youngest in the 07 draft rather than oldest in the 08 draft?

At this point giving a way one of our most promising young blueliners is the last thing the Avs need to do

Also, can you really imagine Roy and co making a deal with the Red Wings? Rivalry may be over today, but still seems unlikely

Barrie is worth more to the Avs, Nyquist is worth more the the Wings. Does that help?

Now if you want to talk about Kindl, Smith, or Dekeyser......

Nyquist was eligible for the 2007 draft.

If that ever happened Varly better never have to pay for a thing when he's out n about with his team-mates. Watching him bail us out game after game over the first half of the season until he just couldn't take the ******** in front of him was hard enough.
