Anthony Stewart Habs/bulldogs

He's a ufa and could be cheap option for size on the wing. He does come with some issues like being consistent and conditioning. Even if he stays in Hamilton it's not much risk for a chance to turn his career around. He was a top scorer in wjc and a former 1st round pick.

Ok but sometimes being in the right spot makes a difference. Bourque was labelled lazy and streaky but up until his concussion was playing well. Rene is obviously a better player and I'm not comparing the two guys. I'm just saying the right coach can make a player

The thing you don't seem to understand is that with Bourque's resume (back to back 27 goal seasons in CGY) he's shown that he can be a solid top 6 player so he's worth the investment from the organization in getting him motivated, Stewart on the other hand...

WJC was a while ago and means nothing. He's an AHL free agent. This belongs in the AHL forum.

Maybe he goes to Europe.

The canes had to throw in a 4th round pick just to get rid of this guy. Sure, he's got size but he doesn't use it.

In one of the best drafts in some time, the Panthers select Horton and Stewart....

Ugh.

I'd give it a try. Give him a one year deal for cheap and if he proves himself well, you can work from there.
Alot of players need that one more chance in their careers and then it changes everything.

2 of the more hyped players in that draft. Everyone was saying the panthers got a steal in Stewart. It just didn't work out.

I remember hearing before the '03 draft that he and his family were big habs fans, so maybe getting into the organization would give him a little bit of a push...

He played in Britain during the lockout and looked terrible considering his talent. 0.5 PPG in a league where Paul Bissonette was scoring two points per game playing defence...
