Natural center/maybe/fast but meh/yeah right!/Detroit didn't want to sign him because of his motivation, commitment

Grabovski and Mueller are the only interesting ones. Maybe Brunner but if Detroit didn't want to re-sign him I have faith in their management they must have their reasons.

Grabo is a LW and we're "stacked" at LW for the moment(Ryan/Michalek, Conacher, Greening, Hoffman)

Mueller fills a need on RW but has injury concerns. Do we really want to get another forward with injury concerns in our top six?

Michalek-Spezza-Ryan
MacArthur-Turris-Mueller

Would be cool.

I think it's interesting how quickly you switched from being confident that Joe Blow Available FA is better than what we have to basing the make up of this team entirely on supposed merit during camp, which hasn't happened yet.

I would rather give Conacher, Hoffman or Stone a shot before Muelller.

Pathetic a Canadian market team is being out spent by 28 other clubs
We have enough internal depth that an at least competent young player can slot into those roles, and you save money that can potentially be put to better use in the future. It's not a situation where if you don't spend the dollars now they necessarily go away.

Guys, what don't you understand? The more we spend, the better the team will be. Or something like that.

While I don't think we need to spend up to the cap to be a very good team this coming year, it is hard seeing all of that cap space while knowing that we have a big hole at RW on the second line. We could also use a 3/4 D on the right side.

I like the fact that prospects are going to get a shot, but it makes me kind of nervous, especially since we are in a really good division.

We have to many bodies, so if we want to add some player it is possible only via trade. And i believe Murray is listening ground. Teams dont even start unload money yet, there is two month till season starts. I believe Sens makes at list one move before training camp.

Maybe we can do another package.

Stone, Hoffman + 2nd for Simmonds.

Ryan/Spezza/Simmonds
MacArthur/Turris/Michalek

or

Michalek/Spezza/Ryan
MacArthur/Turris/Simmonds

lol no reason to get upset. There are a decent amount of 2nd liners left in free agency who would make us a better team. Injuries are gonna happen, I'm confident in our team right now, but what's gonna happen if Spezza and Michalek go down? Depth isn't a bad thing. If we had the cash, which I don't think we do, I don't see any issue in adding one of the guys I mentioned to round out our top 6.

And I don't see how I switched any position... If there's 7 guys playing for 6 spots, you take the 6 best players, that's all I'm suggesting.

I'd do that. Pretty sure Philly is in love with Simmonds though.

Then again, I think his new contract kicks in this year, and knowing Philly...

We do the same thing that we did last year. We push through it. I am confident that even if michalek and spezza go down, we can still be a competitive team.

Why would Philly make this trade? I dont see how this benefits their team.

You sign Brunner for 2.8 million dollars a year for 2 years. He has a poor camp, you send him to the press box. You now have a 2.8 million dollar guy in the press box. Do I think that would happen? No. I think if you throw 2.8 million dollars at Brunner, that's all but a promise that he is going to play meaning someone else, who actually deserves to play, is now sitting. Condra shouldn't be sitting, Pageau shouldn't be sitting, Greening shouldn't be sitting. You wait for them to start paying poorly, and then you sit them. You don't take the legs out from under them by handing Some Guy™ a multi-year deal because you can't stand the sight of Some Guy™ sitting without a contract.

If Spezza and Michalek go down, we make due with any one of our many call-up options. That's what call-ups are for.

Svelte Buff. Streamlined Buff. The anti-rotund Buff. Winnipeg must be very happy with that.

Making that trade and putting Pronger on LTIR frees up 8m in cap space this year and makes room next year incase the cap doesn't go up.

As much as I agree, I'd rather spend near the top and win a cup.

Spending near the top does not always work. Just ask pittsburgh. I would much rather go into the season where we stand now and see how our players do. If we need another player to fill a spot, we could always acquire one before the trade deadline.

Oh yeah, we do need to pick the right time, and spend wisely, but I just don't want to be at the bottom every year and only make the playoffs.
