Rumors have it that the Caps will face the Flyers, though not yet confirmed.

Should've just called the Metropolitan Division the Winter Classic Division.

Crosby is not top 35 in points scored in the last 3 years. Kane, Toews, Hossa, and Sharp are. I'm not sure if Sid's still the best player in the world.

Serious? Crosby missed time, doesn't mean he isn't still the best.

Last three season, points per game leaders....

2013
1) Crosby: 1.56
2) St. Louis: 1.25

2011-12
1) Crosby: 1.68
2) Malkin: 1.45

2010-11
1) Crosby: 1.61
2) D. Sedin: 1.27

Yes, Crosby is far and away still the best player in the league. He's just had major health issues. When he's on the ice, he's the best player by a longshot, at least from an offensive standpoint.

Would he have kept those numbers up in a full season? Probably not, but they're still the facts.

Health is certainly part of evaluating a player's worth, but Crosby's skill outweighs the health concerns at this point. He is clearly the best player in the world at this point.

Giordano named Flames captain, btw.

Yet another barrier for my hope that he would eventually sign with Chicago and we'd have cross-promotional Blackhawks/Giordano's pizza ads....

If he doesn't miss time he is running away with the points lead.

Sharp has put up 160 points...Crosby has put up 159 despite playing in 77(!) fewer games.

I get, especially as hawks fans, that we'd rather have Toews than Crosby, but to suggest Toews is better is just crazy

It's not close when he's healthy. Best piece to build a team around? Debatable. If he's healthy and you need to win one game tomorrow? He's your first, second, and third choice.

And I can't stand him.

gagner is out indefinitely with a broken jaw after a high stick from kassian in the oil/canucks game last night.

gif courtesy of oilers board:

if it's as serious as it sounds, the oilers are screwed...RNH is out and their depth at centre is so bad they've had to put Hall there...and now Gagner...not good!

also, this is weise's hit on hall last night. the canucks are such a POS team. that sort of garbage catches up with you.

when one team keeps crossing the line again and again, you think the league would start doing something to the team and not just the players.

I haven't read Canucks fans' reactions to that hit yet, but something tells me that a significant contingent had/saw no problem with it.

Remember some of the Kings fans after Keith's high stick in the playoffs? A few of them were almost as bad.

(I should note - the Canucks aren't really any dirtier than any other team. They do definitely dive the most though).

This is the first I've seen of this.... wow.

you guessed correctly. there is also a sizeable "slippery slope" crowd who thinks if there is a suspension for the high stick then the game will never be the same.

kassian has an in person hearing...so it's possible for him to get more than 5 games (although unlikely, imo).

tbh, i thought if anyone got an in person hearing it would be weise, but

Yeah but then Kessel fought Flynn and, imo, actually won.

Clarkson left the bench to fight...and it was pretty blatant...so a 10 game suspension is incoming.
