HBH Game 2: 3-1 loss at WBS

Injured scratches: Brittain, Orlov
Healthy scratches: Strachan (AHL vet scratch), Deschamps, Kolomatis, John Mitchell, Rechlicz, Stoa

I believe Stoa, Deschamps, Kolomatis and John Mitchell are the players on the Bears roster to be healthy scratches for both games.

What's going on with Stoa? Just trying to clear room for AHL vets? I thought he looked good during Washington's camp/pre-season. Surprised to see him a regular scratch.

What do you mean? Stoa is not an AHL vet. He was scratched some last year, too, including in the playoffs. Having not see any Hershey camp / practices hard to say what's going on specifically. There are a lot of players competing for playing time and there have only been two games played.

Royals updates from ‏@JasonGuarente

Quote:
Royals release forwards Rob Linsmayer, David Toews and Marc Zanette. Trade defenseman Damon Kipp to San Francisco for futures.
Quote:
Royals roster moves mean rookie forwards Ryan Santana, Domenic Monardo and Ian Watters make 23-man cut, barring any changes before opener.
So with the updates and the AHL/NHL assignments:

Likely roster to start the season:

Head coach: Larry Courville

G (2): Riley Gill & Brandon Anderson

D (8): Mike Banwell, Michal Cajkovsky, Matt Campanale, Brett Flemming, Ryan Kavanagh, Bryant Molle, Bobby Shea, Patrick Wey

F (13): Louie Caporusso, Julien Cayer, Ethan Cox, Stanislav Galiev, Dustin Gazley, David Marshall, Domenic Monardo, Ian O'Connor, Ryan Santana, TJ Syner, Yannick Tifu, Ian Watters, Sean Wiles

Also, note Shea signed an AHL contract with Rockford. link

Royals claim dman Aaron Gens on waivers. Note, Gens participated in Caps camp in July 2012 (coach Courville participated, too)

Reading Royals opening roster

So Shea traded to Toledo. Toledo is affiliated with Rockford so that makes sense.

Head coach: Larry Courville

G (2): Riley Gill & Brandon Anderson

D (8): Mike Banwell (reserve list), Michal Cajkovsky, Matt Campanale, Brett Flemming, Aaron Gens Ryan Kavanagh, Bryant Molle, Patrick Wey

F (13): Louie Caporusso, Julien Cayer, Ethan Cox, Stanislav Galiev, Dustin Gazley, David Marshall, Domenic Monardo, Ian O'Connor, Ryan Santana (21 day IR), TJ Syner, Yannick Tifu, Ian Watters (reserve list), Sean Wiles

Nathan Walker's play basically eliminated any odds of Galiev making the Bears.

Yup, it's a crowded line-up with not many games these first few weeks and players like Stoa not playing, as well, and Galiev is an option to demote, but it's telling with a new coaching staff in place.

Stoa is being tried at center according to Leone's report from yesterday. link

practice lines/pairings reported by Leone yesterday:

Lines:

Whitmore-Taffe-Johnson
Byers-LeBlanc-Wellman
Deschamps-Stoa-G. Mitchell
Watkins-Latta-Ruegsegger/Rechlicz
Walker-J. Mitchell-Segal

D-pairs:
Schilling-Carrick
Genoway-Strachan
Orlov-Kundratek
Wellar-Kolomatis

Also, Leone's article in advance of the Bears roadtrip to St. John's.

Just stopped by the say I was at the game Saturday night, it's obvious the studs of the team are Orlov and Grubauer. Micheal Laata had a big game Saturday, played with an edge wasn't afraid to mix it up.

All in all the bears should be fine this year, rough team with a big D line that likes to hit. Plays for each other, not afraid to stick up after the whistle and Grubauer should play 90 percent of the games. Made some big saves at some big times.

Cheers guys great weekend of hockey

Thanks for the comments Newfy. Always good to hear about how players looked during an away game and even better when the prospects are the ones standing out. As to the goalies, a new coaching staff, but I expect Grubauer will get more starts as long as he plays well, but there will be plenty of splits as long as the goalies in the org. are healthy. Hope you are enjoying having Andrew Gordon on the IceCaps.

Reading wins 3-1. Royals play tomorrow, same opponent, Elmira, but at home.

Reading:
Add Mike Banwell, D activated from reserve
Add Ryan Kavanagh, D activated from reserve
Delete Michal Cajkovsky, D placed on reserve
Delete Patrick Wey, D placed on reserve

UPDATED for Saturday:

HBH Game Summary

They are rotating D to reserve to have them all play. One of the silly ECHL rules. Wey and Cajkovsky playing tonight.

HBH game summary

Nathan Walker back in the line-up and scores his first AHL goal. And now a fight after being hit.

Also, as Tim Leone reported Orlov is playing right D.

Thanks bud, no worries. I'll try to stop in every game the Icecaps play the bears, might miss some but if you want any of you can DM me and ill give you the details of how I saw it. As for Gordon I hope he enjoys his time in Icecap land, gonna be a long year and a fight to make the playoffs

Galiev has looked very slugish missing easy shots getting rid of the puck to quickly not carrying the puck and creating plays like he used to. But i think he'll come out of his shell as the season moves along. As for the other caps prospects wey looks ok But Anderson Looks really Shakey . Like he looked last year hes just not playing up to his potential

Yes spent almost every game at LD so far for Hershey. I think he has only played one game? at RD this season for Hershey. I could be wrong though.

Alright that's good. I get the feeling Orlov would not be with the big club if he wasn't comfortable playing on his natural side, his 4 point night should give him confidence moving forward.
