Tootoo, Emmerton, Eaves, or Samuelsson. We need to get rid of 2 of these guys, if not 3. Preference to Tootoo and Samuelsson, but everything helps.

We might even give you a late round pick for graciously accepting the trade. Any takers? Edmonton? I heard you guys need depth...

I would gamble on Tootoo.

Maybe I just like his name though...

I'd have to imagine that were Tootoo available the Jets would make a strong play for him, assuming they were confident he could keep his alcohol problem under control in Winnipeg.

You would get more business if you developed a video:

I would love Eaves on the Canucks 4th line.

I still think there is a trade possible between the penguins and the red wings

Matt Niskanen...
provides that perfect depth the red wings didn't have last year. plus perfect for 2nd line PP
for

Justin Abdelkader (probably would require picks from pittsburgh)
Drew Miller (straight up fair each way.) dime a dozen player but would be successful in pens system
Cody Emmerton (would require picks from detroit
(all of these are best for both teams, pens shed a little salary too.)
any thoughts?

There's lot of problems with the fit.

Detroit would prefer stay-at-home defenceman (Niskanen isn't)

Abdelkader is not on trade list.

Miller is needed on the penalty kill.

Emmerton does not fit with the caphits, opens too less room for Wings. And they probably prefer to keep a cheap depth center.

Samuelsson does not fit Pens cap and has NTC.

Tootoo would fit with caphits, but doesn't help the Pens anyhow in their cap situation.

Eaves could be it.

Yeah, that a player can't be coming back. We'll take the 7th rounder or "future considerations". We've got 25 roster players and 50 contracts(pending RFA signings).

Who they want to move: Tootoo. Much cap savings for a guy that won't be a regular. Not his fault, they wanted sandpaper and got it.

Who I would target as another team: Eaves. 4th liner that could potentially step up and play on a 3rd line. 1 yr left on his deal and in good age. Plays with energy. PK. He deserves to be an NHL regular. The downside: Another concussion and he's probably done.

What do you not get about free?

Wings need to clear roster space. Trading one guy for one guy is going to do precisely nothing for us.

And we have oodles of 4th liners and bottom pairing D... that's why we're trying to dump them.

As an Oil fan I'd say Eaves would get my attention most. While I like his game, I'm not sure he'd be the first guy we look to as we need better size in our bottom 6 to offset our smaller top 6.

Can I assume we're talking 5th rder in return?

The Canes could really use any of these other than Tootoo, but I'm not getting my hopes up about a Wings/Canes trade.

Can see the Pens having some interest in Emmerton for a late pick

Beggers can't be choosers.

I'd like Tootoo. Wings have to add.

Tootoo could fit to Philly well... So then we have no need to sign anybody to LW3 spot. Just put Talbot there. And i would love our 4th line, Rinaldo-Hall-Tootoo.

7th round pick <-> Tootoo -50%

You make it sound as though Detroit would do something like this.

You take Emmerton to camp for sure. Nobody knows what the future holds for Helm's back.

Eaves is a very good 4th line player who kills penalties. There's a worth factor here.

Tootoo can be had for real cheap and Samuelsson is a wild card. Who knows what you're gonna get. Im guessing they're stuck with him. If you've ever had that injury, you know it hurts constantly... starts feeling better and bang... you turn your torso to look in your blind spot driving and it stretches or re-injures.

Really, it's down to Emmerton or Eaves. Miller has just re-signed and Tootoo is still a valuable regular season player. On the other hand, Emmerton filled well in the 4th line role, but really isn't anything special. Bring up Sheahan or Ferraro to take his spot or give it to Andersson, if Helm is healthy. Eaves still has SOME value and should be able to garner a 5th or 6th, heck, Carcillo just got a 6th.

tootoo has been sober since emerging from rehab.

i feel bad for Jordin.. he left Nashville because he was getting scratched in the playoffs, goes to detroit on a nice contract.... and gets scratched for the playoffs...

hope he finds a nice landing spot...

The real miracle would be getting rid of Samuelsson. Even if Detroit moves Emmerton, Tootoo and Eaves, they've still got guys like Sammy and Bert eating up spots where Tatar and Nyquist should be playing. Best case scenario in my mind: Samuelsson and Emmerton (if Helm is healthy) or Eaves (If Helm isn't) are moved.

Tootoo is the low man on Babcock's totem pole, but he provides something different. Eaves is Miller Lite.

Believe me, Detroit has been trying to get a hold on Samuelsson's situation. Samuelsson's agent says he can't be bought out because he has a lingering issue and he can't really be traded because he's injury-prone. Hopefully the situation is settled before too long.
