Matt Greene

Would the Kings be willing to part with Greene for the right offer and if so what would be the cost ?

Would the Kings be interested in something from the Habs ?

I rarely make Value of players threads but i have sort of a man crush on Greene. Love the guy and his style

The Kings are too skittish to trade a top six, everyday defenseman after the amount of injuries suffered last year, the loss of Scuderi to UFA and the big question mark that is Willie Mitchell.

The Kings would be a worse team by trading Greene and they want to win now, so I don't see it happening.

I'd rather have Greene over Quincey by far. No interest in dealing Toffoli and I like Tatar.

Kings don't have someone to replace what Greene provides with regularity, especially since they already lost a vet D in Scuderi.

Any movement of Greene would require a comparable player in return, and making a lateral move is pointless.

I don't think we trade Greene, but value wise, I'd say someone like Rene Bourque would be fair value.

The Kings have a couple of prospects that play a punishing, physical style, but they're pretty far down the depth chart. Most Kings defensemen are either two-way players, or play a sound positioning game, a-la the recently departed Rob Scuderi. So the Kings don't really have anyone else right now that brings what Greene does (except maybe for Regehr) and they seemed to miss him last season.

Call us back in a couple of years when he is older and even slower, and we have someone to replace him - then we'll talk.

The Kings lose Scuderi to Free Agency, Mitchell is coming off of LTIR (Hopefully) and in the last year of his deal at age 36 and you want them to trade the assistant captain of the team who happens to be the most physical defenseman in the league and certainly one of the meanest and a great penalty killer on a defense-first team?

You will completely overpay for Greene. He's worth more to the Kings than any other team. Greene will re-sign during the season once he establishes his back is in good shape.

Never thought much about the trade from Edmonton for Greene and Stoll. Then I saw Greene play. Solid as a rock on D and mean mean mean. Total meat and potatoes type player. Don't win a cup without him. Team D lacked when he was injured. Losing Scuderi and questions surround Mitchell make makes Greene leader of defense. Regher is just as big as Greene but not nearly as effective. Kings would not trade him not after D suffered last year in his absense.

Greene is worth more the Kings than he would be in trade value. He's on the Kings top PK unit and when that PK unit is healthy, it's near the top of the league. The Kings don't have anyone who is NHL ready right now to replace him. Quick needs crease clearers to be effective and Greene does that job with aplomb.

ill take Greene any day of the week and twice on Sunday over Subban we already have Voynov and he's playing better than Subban. We need a bull in front of the net not a pony. Gladly trade you Regher for Subban though.
