Look where my first line ranks. Stamkos, Crosby, Dupuis compared to his top line. 7th, 19th, 25th compared to Sedin (36), Sedin (68) for reference. Eller is 72 for reference and is my 2nd line C.

Hell my 2nd line players rank significantly higher. Ladd ranks higher than anyone on his offense at 26th overall. Voracek is 41st, just behind his top player.

His next best offensive player after Daniel Sedin? Jannik Hensen at 162. Burrows is even further down.

Now Hamhuis and Garrison are ranked very well (52) and (88) but after that he's got nothing special. Edler is 273 and is on his top pairing. Really? Beiksa is 200 something.

Clitsome is 121 and is my 3rd pairing #5 dman.

Granted that's one rating system but a few others that i like to use for in depth stats, aren't far off.

I like JI's team more than anyone (other than my own team of course).
To quote DD: 'Bait taken'.

Haven't changed much? Brayden Schenn, Steve Ott, Martin Erat, Troy Brouwer, Arron Asham at forward and Christian Ehrhoff and Luke Schenn at D. That's nearly 2 forward lines and an entire D pairing. Plus, why would I need to drastically change the look of a team that has won 2 presidents trophies in the past 3 seasons. I understand addressing things that my team may be lacking, and that's what I focused on doing, rather then lateral deals of swapping my best players. I also wouldn't place a ton of merit on one websites rankings based off a shortened season. With that logic, you'd rather have Sergei Bobrovsky over Henrik Lundqvist?

Though we may not boast superstars across the board, I like my defense better then any others in the league. We have scoring depth throughout the forward group and we boast a bonafide top goaltender.

Is anyone missing serious depth? Looking to move a combination of later picks in the dispersal for another 1st wouldn't mind late first or early 2nd

Lateral moves??? I upgraded Kunitz for Ladd who is superior. Voracek for Neal who is supeior by most accounts. Stamkos and Crosby together is beyond insane. Clistom is better than Orpik. Stempniak better than anyone i could have originally put on my 3rd line by a wide margin.

I just don't see it offensively for you compared to others. From a pure production standpoint alone and not going into special "Sabremetic" type anaylsis, your team is rather weak compared to my team or say JI's.

I really like your D, just to be clear. But Luongo hasn't exactly lit the world on fire the past few years, especially in crunch time = playoffs.

President's trophies are wonderful and they mean exactly nothing. It means you were good in the regular season. The Canucks have long been an underachieving team given the players they've had on paper. Year in and year out results in real life back me up there.

CBK, you can go ahead and do the Entry Draft whenever you want. I'd recommend doing only a 1st round because there was a mix-up with several 2nd round picks and most people don't know enough players either.

1st round results coming shortly.

You also, in my opinion, downgraded Malkin to Stamkos, and Letang to Hedman. Not saying they aren't great players, but Malkin can carry a line by himself, something I haven't seen from Stamkos yet. Although Hedman is better in his own end, you can't argue how much your transition game suffers losing a Norris nominee and one of the purest skaters in NHL in Kris Letang. And according to the website you've been using to rank my players, you downgraded from Kunitz to Ladd and Neal to Voracek.

I am aware that I haven't exactly set the world on fire with my offense, but a team boasting 2 recent Art Ross winners isn't a group devoid of offense. Championship teams are backboned by depth, and my group has that in spades.

And although Vancouver has had 2 straight 1st round exits, it's not like Pittsburgh hasn't also been a colossal disappointment in what? The past 4 post seasons? Weren't they, on paper, supposed to win the cup this year? Cup or bust as Ray Shero put it. I just find it funny that you downplay Vancouver's success despite the fact we made the Cup finals more recently then the Pens. But we are veering too far into real life stuff here.

PS: loving the spirited hockey talks. Adds a lot of fun to the playoff series in an otherwise dull offseason (IRL)

We feel we built a very strong team for the playoffs. For some of the more hated or less known players heres somethings ot put in mind:

Parise - Koivu - Semin, this is a perfect line that combines Parise A star LW Who can score and setup plays and is easily a 70 point player, Koivu a #1 Center i can't say much about besides hes a 60 point center who can help the 3rd peice Semin score, Koivu and parise could pass to semin and he can snipe it top shelf.

Coyle - Roy - Pomminville, i did this change from richards for a couple reasons! Roy we feel is better because richards is unfairly hated upon and we realized Roy is re-united with Pommer, Roy has his best years in Buffalo hitting 80+ points on the line with Pommer and they could light it up while teaching coyle development. Coyle is a future top 6 liner or should i say already a top 6 player playing the 2nd line this year for Minnesota.

Morrow - Richards - Brodziak, i feel this is a line that is unfairly hated upon. Morrow did great in Pittsburgh i forget who he played with but i think he honestly played with Sutter. Richards is still a top 6 center and can get 60 points and will come back with a great season im guessing and he is playing 3rd line. Brodziak got a 40+ Point season 2 years back and has shown he can be a great 3rd liner.

Rinaldo - Talbot - Halischuk, This is a great 4th line we have a Grinder, Good 3rd/4th line tweener center in talbot who can win face offs and get goals as well as Halischuk a good Two way forward.

Suter - Girardi, Suter was robbed from the Norris trophy by Subban according to many which means he should've been the best defenceman last year falling short by only 36 points i believe. and he has a great partner in Girardi, There both players who can play great Defense and help players score.

Carlson - Macdonald, Carlson is a great offensive defenceman who is very very fast and can pitch in offensively, Macdonald a great ##4 Defensive defense man can stay behind and play defense while carlson works magic.

Meszaros - Salo, 2 #4 defenceman on the bottom pairing is great, Meszaros and salo can play good defense and offense and they have veteran experience!

Backstrom - Backstrom isn't your Jonathan quick, he isn't Henrik Lundqvist but he is a starting goalie, His whole career in the NHL he's finished the regular season with a SV% above 0.900 and his worst GAA was 2.72 but that was only in 09-10, He is a goalie who will only let 2-3 goals past him and with this defense core i seriously think he will only let 1-2 goals past him, and i can see our offense scoreing 2+ Goals a game.

Khubodin - Khubodin was a great backup last year in Boston and could come in if anything ever happened to Backstrom however there usually is no injuries unless theres a case like Progner.
Vote Over

Over all I feel our teams are pretty close in this tbh, Great defense, Good top 6 and good forward depth and our goalies are really close,

GL to produce and hopefully this one time Luongo can choke and i can finally get a series win against produce.

The have a great team, but overall I believe my team will beat him with our top-end talent (OV, Backes, Piets, Shatty, JayBo, Elias) and depth (Cleary, Bergenheim, Oshie, Bolland, Zidlicky etc.). I believe that this will simply be too much for his roster to handle.

Best of luck to PIG and his Minnesota Wild. He has done an admirable job transforming that defense and adding some solid secondary scoring. They have a very good team and they pose a major threat.

We hope that our strong, gritty forwards, and terrific team defense will help us advance past our former-North West Division foe.
