The Oilers First 4 Picks At The Draft.

hey Oilers fans....who would you pick based on who is likely to be left when we pick if we make them all?

1. C Connor McDavid (no brainer)

16. RD Jeremy Roy....smooth and talented point producing d-man and PP QB.

33. RD Nicholas Meloche....tough and physical and can produce points. he and Roy will take care of the RD problem for us in the future.

61. i'm going to reach here and say how about one of the good leftover goalies? Daniel Vladar or Callum Booth or Matej Tomek or Adin Hill perhaps?

care to give an opinion?

I'll give it a go

1 - C - Connor McDavid - Erie (OHL)
16 - D - Oliver Kylington - Sweden
33 - D - Jakub Zboril - Saint John (QMJHL)
79 - G - Samuel Montembeault - Blainville-Broisbriand (QMJHL)

I also like Chaz Reddekopp - Victoria (WHL) in the 3rd round but I didn't want to pick 3 dmen in a row.

Note: Anaheim has our 3rd round pick (Viktor Fasth trade) but we have the Sens 3rd round pick (Hemsky trade)

^judging by the talent you all have picked, this could be as fruitful a draft as the 2013 appears to be.

We have MTL 2nd which looks to be 61st overall from Petry trade.

Anyway I'll give it a go…

1st - C - Connor McDavid
16th - D/LW - Jeremy Roy/Timo Meier
33rd - D/RW - Noah Juulsen/Zach Senyshyn (maybe to early but I like him, would be a good middle 6 winger)
61st - D - Sami Niku
79th - D Austin Strand

do a lot of Oiler fans still believe we need to take 3 or 4 d-men with this year's picks? wouldn't we be better off taking maybe just a couple to add to the pile? i mean after Nurse, and with Klefbom and Marincin on the NHL roster, we still have Musil, Simpson, Davidson, Betker and LaLeggia knocking on the door. where will we put all of these guys, then add 3 or 4 more from this year's draft?

I'm a little confused. How is Montreal's pick 61? That would be the third round wouldn't it? Montreal's pick would be in the 58-60 range I thought.

Anyways, here is what we have

Oilers 1st
Pitts 1st
Oilers 2nd
Montreal 2nd
Ottawa 3rd
St. Louis 3rd
Montreal Conditional 3rd
Montreal Conditional 4th
Oilers 5th
Oilers 6th
Oilers 7th

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, Hayes wasn't signed so they get 54th OVR. 61 would be Montreal's IF they win the cup am I right?

As far as I know, yes. I'm not sure where the number 61 came from specifically.

I'm in the group that unless we trade for a top 4 d man we should use the 16 pick on a skilled forward. We have few defense prospects that could be considered to develop into top 4 players but not too many high skilled forward prospects

Rather than try and outsmart anyone, I wish the Oilers would simply go BPA throughout.

No more nepotism picks, no more swinging for the fences, no more drafting off board. No more drafting for immediate need.

Just BPA all 7 rounds. I think it's been proven on these forums that strategy is a LOT more effective than whatever Koolaid our scouts have been slogging us.

1. Connor McDavid
16. Jeremy Roy
33. Christian Fischer
61. Alexander Dergachyov

Nice mix of size and skill IMO.

EDIT: Denis Guryanov would be very interesting with that 2nd round pick too. Really would prefer trading down with #16 and accumulate as many picks as possible in the 25-61 range.

http://www.prosportstransactions.com...Years/2015.htm

I believe so. I'm really interested in some of the character forwards in this years draft.

16: Connor/Roy/Chabot/Harkins/White

33: Erikson/Larsson/Carlo/Greenway

55-61: Samsanov/Dunn/Fischer/

1. McDavid
16. Best big winger or RHD available (Zacha/Bittner/Meier/Svechnikov/Roy/Meloche)
33. If we chose a RHD at 16 then take a big winger if we chose a winger then take best RHD
Montreal pick: Best goalie available (Vlader, Samsonov, Blackwood, Tomek)
