Vikings Time of Possession stats vs the Lions with Ponder under center...

Possession Vikings - 23:41 Lions - 36:19

Vikings Time of Possession stats vs the Bears with Ponder under center...

Possession Vikings - 29:26 Bears - 30:34

Vikings Time of Possession stas vs the Steelers with Cassel under center...

Possession Steelers - 36:27 Vikings - 23:33

The Vikings time of possession is equal to or BETTER with Ponder than it was with Cassell.

Ponder is not the only problem here guys. The problems are all over the board INCLUDING the defense. Also, you can't tell me the Vikings Defense is a product of the opposition tiring them out when they have been better in the 3rd and 4th quarter overall than in the 1st and 2nd. They just can't stop anyone when the game is on the line.

If that's true, then Frazier probably thinks Ponder IS the starter if healthy . And he needs to go.
Frazier is part of the problem with this team and he needs to go.

I don't think Josh Freeman is the answer either though.

Apparently the Lynx won their second WNBA title in three years tonight. Meh. Imagine though had they won last years finals they would have been the state's first dynasty!

Leslie Frazier isn't in charge of the draft or signing free agents.

The Vikings are ****ed as long as Spielman is given a free pass.

At least one Minnesota sports team can be consistently good!

It is kind of sad how this is their 2nd World Title in 3 years and I could really not care any less. Oh well, congrats to them.

Yeah. The Facebook comments are pretty bad regarding the team. I couldn't care less but whatever. I just thought it was worth noting.

I think Spielman is actually a good GM. He did a good job with the Dolphins and has a done a good job overall with the Vikings. His biggest weakness is never securing a franchise QB for now and the future. Both of his teams have had this problem. Now, it appears as though he is trying to be more proactive about this deficiency.

The main problem for me is coaching and QB play. You can't play cover-2 anymore in this league IMHO.

Obviously defense needs to be addressed, but so does the QB position. They need at least one quality linebacker, a corner, and of course Allen/Williams are likely gone after this year. But on offense, they are set at nearly every position but the QB spot. That's one guy who can make a difference. If just a couple third downs are converted in the Bears and Browns games, that runs enough time off the clock that they can't make those late fourth quarter comebacks. Not to mention finishing in the red zone with TD's instead of FG's.

Huh?

He was terrible with Dolphins and equally so here.

He's had 6 first round picks the past three years and there's still not much hope with this overall roster. And that's even getting past his 4-6 year mistake at QB. He hasn't even touched the QB position and there's still massive holes next year at both guards spots (which have both been brutal for 5 years now), DT, DE, Will, Mike, and entire secondary (save FS and Rhodes' spots). Not to mention his two biggest FA contracts are just plain bad (Carlson, Jennings).

If this franchise hits the reset button in the offseason (new coach and QB), there's no reason why Spielman should survive that.

The Dolphins had a rock solid D, great/good running game, and serviceable WRS. Their only problem was A.J. Feeley and Jay Fiedler being the QBs. If they even had a semi-decent qb they would've been a top-tier team.

Now, if you look at this team, he's made good trades and his drafting has been pretty good. If you add a NFL level QB to this team and a coach that doesn't rely on cover-2 D, we could easily be 3-1.

I mean we are only one year removed from making the playoffs despite Christian Ponder....

Wikipedia:
"To date, Spielman has overseen seven drafts in Minnesota. His most notable draftees include Adrian Peterson and Sidney Rice in 2007, Letroy Guion and John Sullivan in 2008, Percy Harvin and Phil Loadholt in 2009, Chris Cook and Toby Gerhart in 2010, Christian Ponder and Kyle Rudolph in 2011, Matt Kalil, Harrison Smith and Blair Walsh in 2012, and Sharrif Floyd, Xavier Rhodes, and Cordarrelle Patterson in 2013. The draft aside, Spielman is best known for several key offseason moves. In 2008 they traded a first round and two third round picks to the Kansas City Chiefs for pro-bowl defensive end, Jared Allen. In 2009 when the Vikings came to terms with long time Green Bay Packer Brett Favre. In 2012 the team signed fullback Jerome Felton who made it to the Pro Bowl that same year.[4]"

Spielman's drafts left the Dolphins with year after year of losing seasons once he was replaced... A funk that outside of one season, they're just recovering from in what has been a weak division.

A season that was largely dependent upon a historic season.

Then he lets go of one the best defensive players they had last season, and in their recent history, at a position of weakness and youth. All because he's forced to because of terrible contracts. Not to mention his best players are all longer tenured players. There's literally been minimal influx of youth that makes an impact.

And given we do not know the inner workings of who made what decisions during the Childress-era, I do not look at what was done at that point.

Put simply, this roster is just plain bad as a whole. QB doesn't help the matters. But next years team is pretty likely to be even worse given who's up and what's up (isn't) behind them.

So the entire secondary, except for half of it?

I kid, I kid.

You need a decent to good nickel in this league now and a dime that can at least hold his own. Sherels is quality in that role but who knows since he has to battle for his job each camp. Soooo, two corners, possibly 3, and a safety. Robinson was terrible in college and continues to be terrible in the pros. Very much over-drafted because of a work out. Would be much better off cutting bait at this point.

So it's the guy dating Adrian's Ex?

That guy is going to be regretting this decision soon. When he goes to prison(which he likely will, no?), not only is he going to be attacked for being someone who harmed children, but also someone who harmed the child of one of the most well-known and well-liked sports figures in history.

What a terrible, terrible situation.

People like that don't deserve third and fourth chances...
