How good will Tim Thomas be this season?

After taking off a half season due to the lockout, Was Tim out practicing and working on a comeback year? Or was he sitting back in a vacation home?

-Everybody thinks he wont make a good comeback, Well you never know. If he was still working out, and practicing he should be good. People think "Oh he took of a season, he wont be good" Well i disagree, #1 he didn't take off a whole season. He took off a half of a season.

So the question is, Will he make a comeback and surprisingly make such a good comeback, and become a starter?? And where could he end up? I was thinking, Florida, Colorado, Vancouver, and possibly BACK TO BOSTON.

Who knows if he'll even get signed. I doubt he'll be any better than a backup, or split games with another starter.

Lol at the idea of him coming to Vancouver.

He'll maybe end up splitting time with someone.

So good you will never see a puck get past him.

Unfortunately, he will also never make a save.

someone had to say it

That whole Obama thing didn't blow over well with a lot of NHL GM's, apparently. He may have facebooked himself out of the league permanently.

hard to say some ppl doesnt lose touch even after a year, some ppl lose it after a week / few weeks.
My opinion is he would need good portions of games where he will be average but then he can return to his performance.
I would like to see that tho, hope someone sign him and give him the chance

He's 39 years old. If he was actually working out, and practicing he should be good. And now since he did take off a half season, I am sure he's 100% healthy.

I read something on Tim the other day on ESPN, His agent said "There is teams interested in Tim"

Well, he wouldn't be a very good agent if he came out and said "No teams are interested in my client"

The thing is he DIDN'T take a year off, He took 48 games off. Players, and goalies get injured for 30+ games and people don't talk about "Oh why should he come back if he missed all those games" He didn't miss much.

-He could be a backup or share the starting role in Florida, Be a backup in Vancouver, Play 30 games or so in Colorado.

I think that the 2011 playoffs was just a time he was really good. I don't think Thomas will look as good as he was, but I think he will do good.

I agree, I mean he will for sure be better than a lot of backup goaltenders in the NHL, I mean look at Chris Mason terrible, He can play anywhere and play 30+ games. Nobody knows what he even looks like right now.

I would for sure take a grab at him for 1 year 1.0 million dollars.

He may be awesome sitting in his chair at home since no one has signed him...yet. Maybe he'll retire and go into politics instead.

After a year off, I don't think he'll perform well enough to counter the ultra-distraction he'd bring to any lockerroom. Perhaps in an ultra-non-hockey market he and his team would survive the media bombardment, but on the road? Yeesh...

Taking that year off, as much as it helped out the Bruins, and then pretending that he can just waltz back in at 39 reeks of ridiculous-level arrogance. Patrick Roy's even taking notes on how to be that arrogant, forcryingoutloud.

On one hand, I really do think he's finished in the NHL and especially as an elite goalie.

On the other hand, it's not like we haven't seen similar ups and downs before. Hasek springs to mind as a guy who seemed finished multiple times.

He doesn't deserve a contract, and if he gets one he will be a backup. Enjoy your retirement in your fallout shelter Timmy.

He did take a year off, other goalies played overseas or in other leagues. Thomas went to Disneyland.
