Anderson saw every single shot. He didn't have to contend with people in front of him. Totally different story in Montreal's end. Our blueline doesn't protect our goalie and our forwards (apart from Gallagher) don't pay the price in front of the other team's net.
That's why we don't win in the playoffs.
And that was the difference.Simple physics of big D clearing small forwards or no forwards at all.
Price should be better. Stephen is a good Goalie coach, and his goalies play a style that should help Price. Under Groulx, Price became more timid in net and didn't challenge shooters as much. Waite should help him him with that.
I'm curious now.... let's say Price has a mediocre season. Do you keep him? How would try to help him? or.. Do you trade him? What do you get for him?
Honestly, I think the habs will have a mediocre season, but not because of Price, far from it. If I were to guess, I'd think they'd end up between the 7th and 10th, possibly 11th and 12th, spots.
There's no doubt that we need to help him by getting at least one big blueliner who will clear the crease and kill penalties. As others have mentioned he was a Vezina candidate for most of the year before his crash but even when he was playing well our PK was awful. We need to bolster the blueline somewhat no matter who's in net.
