Oklahoma City Barons Signs Chet Pickard

Oklahoma has signed former Nashville 1st round pick goalie Chet Pickard.

I think he looked really good in Djurgården last year in swedish allsvenskan. Wonder if we can get his North american career back on track!

Well...better than Hovinen...? Or is he?

This guy is Bunz all over again. Very good in the WHL and then fell off the map at the AHL and even ECHL level. Sub-.900 SP% in 3-4 seasons between the two leagues.

Then goes to Djurgardens, not even in the top level of Swedish hockey last year, and he did well? I can't find stats or SP% for him there. But that league is about the equivalent of the ECHL so if he posted good numbers there, there's hope that he can be a useful backup in OKC and build off of that.

2.15 GAA and .918 SV% in 45 games.

Those are stats, in addition to his draft and pre-pro pedigree, which warrant a look as backup for an AHL squad, I'd say.

Yeah, it's not like this would be a big risk move...

I actually think he sucked bad in Djurgården. Its my favourite team.
So many softies and in playoff he had 89,5% only.

That DOES sound like a player the Oilers would be interested in...

"Bad in the playoffs? Well it's our organizational philosophy to...not give a **** about the playoffs, so he'll fit right in!" (Granted, OKC is different than the Oilers and they do perennially make the playoffs, but you get the point)

It'd be cool if they signed Jean Luc Picard.

Interesting he took something in the Oilers network. Its not easy to hold onto a spot at the table in the food chain of a club where everyone is starving for wins.
