Canuck Fan after Schneider trade- Schneider sucks! We totally fleeced that team for a 9th overall, he is scum! I can't believe he was a Canuck!
They did Fleece NJ. Schneider is good but he's not worth the 9th overall pick just yet. He's got big shoes to fill in Jersey and who knows how he'll handle the pressure.

Not when Edmonton made a better offer for him.

From what I have gathered, EDM didn't offer VAN anything but VAN specified what they wanted from EDM and it was a lot more than a 9th overall pick.

It would be foolish to believe that MacTavish wasn't trying to bargain with Gillis. As if MacT listened to Gillis's demands and rejected them, only to have the whole draft table erupt when the trade was announced. Not likely.

I think it's far more likely that reaction was based on how little Schneider was traded to NJ for after having heard MG's asking price from the Oilers.

His lifetime in hockey...and that Master's Degree in Business...suggests that he didn't just walk away after seeing the sticker price. You know, due diligence.

Forget it, you're right. It was probably genuine shock that the price was higher for an in-conference foe. Those basterds! The nerve!

From what Dreger said the asking price was through the roof for Schneider to be an Oiler.

You wouldn't be a little choked if you were quoted something outrageously high and then watched it go for peanuts minutes later ??

He likely bargained! Tried to lower the asking price! It likely wasn't a simple yes/no scenario!

Ah **** it.

Sorry I worded it wrong. I mean, the Canuck fans got upset that they got very little for Schneider. That's what I am referring to.

Okay MacT, please, to at least stir competition...

1) Invite 1 of the following to TC
Vinny Prospal
Mason Raymond
Latendresse
Dan Cleary

2) Invite 1 of the following to TC
Steckel
Halpern
Malhotra

3) Invite 1 of the following to TC
Anthony Stewart
Peter Mueller
Chuck Kobasew
Colton Gillies

I want to give the 3rd line LW, 4th line wings and 4th line C some actual competition.

Make Jones, Joensuu, Smyth, Lander etc. earn their spots.

I'd like to see some invitees to camp as well.

I want to see some big competition for the bottom 6 spots, much like we should have for the bottom D spots.

I'd like to see us sign Raymond and offer both Gillies and Stewart tryouts. Raymond can take over for Hemsky when he is inevitably moved (he's a better fit imo), and Gillies and Stewart can push Brown/Joensuu/whoever

I would invite Rajala, Belanger, and Petrell to camp. Maybe add Whitney?

Oh, I get it! Because all those players were in the Oilers system last year and aren't anymore! Funny, funny stuff.

You must be a big fan of everyone ignoring what you say.

Nice! This list is great, I would take one from each list. It looks better than what we have.

I want Mason Raymond. It's never a bad thing to add an extremely fast skater with the ability to fill-in in the top six if injury hits.

Exactly. And the fact he's good defensively is just gravy

I've been a huge advocate of bringing in Latendresse at least for a tryout. The guy always puts up so many points and would not look out of place in our top 6 if he can stay healthy. Obviously he would slot in a #3 LW but if injuries occur he can be bumped up.

The problem is, he'd be the one injured

He might be one of the softest players I have ever seen play in the NHL. Why on earth would we want more of that in the bottom 6?
