Unless of course Brunner is taking the same contract as Omark, which I doubt.
I think we'd basically have to have a trade in place for Hemsky. I still think Morrow should be our target right now though

Morrow is a piece of cow dung. Cant skate at all anymore. Anyone who has watched him over last 18 months can see that.
Might as well clone Smyth or bring back Todd Harvey

He's not the player he once was, but he'd be good on our 3rd line

That's highly doubtful, unless one thinks Smyth is a good 3rd liner

I'd still like to see Hemsky traded for a bottom 6 center (Goc perhaps?), and sign Cleary.

Hall - Gagner - Yakupov
Perron - RNH - Eberle
Jones - Gordon - Cleary
Smyth - Goc - Omark

Jonathan Willis ‏@JonathanWillis 13m

Stauffer makes the logical connection between Corey Potter and the #RedWings. Makes sense to me.

Maybe all the GM's are back from the lake.

Ignoring all of the excitement from the the Omark signing...

Is it possible that we just lost Teemu Hartikainen and Toni Rajala because of Jokerit's imminent introduction to the KHL next season?

I understand Harti's contract hasn't been nullified, but if he's making NHL money in his native country, what are the odds that he actually returns? Signing with UFA could have just been a precursor to him signing in Jokerit.

Seemed pretty clear he wants 1-way deal or he stays in Europe. So if he actually looks to have improved then I suspect there is a chance he comes back if not no one will offer him a one-way and he'll stay overseas.

I've been looking I'd say it would be down to him, Eaves and Miller. Tootoo's name always comes up, but I don't see the need for him. Would like Abdelkater, but we'd have to give more to get him. Detroit might need cap space so who knows.

Was that it though?

I can't see Edmonton penny-pinching on one of their the best overall and only close-to-ready NHL prospects. He wasn't going to get paid anyways.

Short-term, it looks good since there's a bit of a log-jam in terms of bottom-six depth and Harti would've had to clear waivers to get back down to OKC. But the whole Jokerit thing seems a bit fishy.

Yes I'm pretty sure that's all it was, pretty sure MacT talked about it and Stauffer has mentioned it numerous times that no one would wanted Harti on a one-way deal so he went to Europe.

Anyone can make that connection, I did a few weeks ago. Tom Renney, that's all it takes.

How about a Corey Potter for a signed pic of Nik Lidstrom, the Oilers still get value there.

I would love to get Abdelkader
I watched him in the playoffs and he is quite the **** disturber
He also isn't afraid to park himself in front of the net.
I think he would look pretty good replacing Horcoff's role on the PP

Detroit doesn't have any centers that entice me, Emmerton can't win faceoffs.

Just give them Potter for a pick. Nuff said.

God no. No more small soft centers who can't win a faceoff to save their lives. Abdelkader or Eaves should be who the Oilers target as they're speedy, physical penalty killers and will be perfect fits for our bottom 6. So knowing that, the Oilers will probably end up with Emmerton. It'd be awesome if MacT could pull some voodoo magic and land us Darren Helm for Hemsky and Potter though.

Potter is a good #6/#7 Dman and has value in providing some competition for a roster spot this fall.

If you type "Dan Cleary" into the search field on Twitter it's littered with "Oilers are talking to Dan Cleary", "Dan Cleary to Edmonton is close" tweets. What the? When did this start?

Interesting.

I agree with this.

The Oilers have also been in touch with Brenden Morrow, but would prefer Cleary over him

If a trade is out there i think MacT would not hesitate at all.
