Young Stars Tournament

Could have sworn there was another thread but couldn't find it...

Anyways, anyone going? I'm thinking about checking it out this year.

For those that have gone, any recommendations on hotels? I'll checkout Travelocity, Hotels.com, etc. but any suggestions (nearest to venue) would be appreciated.

I have gone to the last two. There is a ton of hotels. Penticton is big tourist draw. I stayed aways away though not sure what is closeby. Everything is within a 10 minute drive though so unless you plan to be regularly liquored everywhere should be fine. Good event watching the prospect tourney has shown what players truly are. Standouts have been Tanev, Corrado and Lack. Disappointments to me were Schoeder as he did not stand out at all. Anyone who is going to do anything should do well at this tourney, but it still is a step up from major junior.

i have been but i don't need accommodation when i go up there. i'm not sure what your budget is for the hotel but the sandman is pretty damn close to the arena itself. one of the nicer hotels (and probably where the players stay) is the lakefront hotel but it is pricier. the arena itself is very nice and brand new. there is also opportunities to get your picture taken with players and autographs if you're into that as well.

Penticton is great, I wish I could go this year but am out of the country until the Saturday.

As longs as you stay on the okanagen lake side you should be with in a 15-25 minute walk (5 dollar cab ride) at the most.

Also if you like Burgers may I recommend Burger 55 ( featured on you gotta eat here) It is a build your own burger place with tons of options.

Plus at that time the lake will still be swim able provided the weather is somewhat nice.

Will these games be streamed? I can't remember if they were in the past.

They were in the past. I seem to recall Sportsnet carrying them one year...am I wrong?

Who wants to take a stab at a roster?

I went to it a couple years ago, stayed at the Penticton Lakeside Resort, Convention Centre & Casino.

Pretty standard fare as far as Hotels go, did seem like a lot of the players and management were staying there. Saw Schroeder in the lobby and shared one too many trips in an elevator with the Oilers management team (way more cologne than any human beings should ever wear).

I'd love to, but that 5 hour car ride is more like an 18 hour car ride for me. Add in the two children in the back seat, yeah...

It would be a hell of a lot of fun, though.

I called in to try and get a ticket, and they said they were only selling packages right now. I only want to go for 1 day, since we are going to be making a road trip to visit friends in Kelowna and vernon for a couple of days as well.

What you gotta do is slip some cough medicine in their drinks before the trip starts.

I'd actually be less worried about Canuckleheads #1 and #2 on a long haul trip than I would be about Mrs. C.

I think they are selling single game tickets now. I was able to get 4 tickets to all of the games through work, if you cant find a single ticket PM me and theres a good chance that all tickets wont be spoken for and if so I can grab you a pair
