2014 NHL Draft Comparables

Not who they project to be, just who hey play like:

For the guys I know best:

Jake Virtanen- Bigger, faster, better shooting version of Brad Marchand

Sam Reinhart- Sean Couturier, but with more offensive instincts.

Aaron Irving- Brent Seabrook.

Sam Bennett - Mike Richards with better skating and a better shot/scoring touch. I've compared him a lot to Doug Gilmour's style of play as well, but I think Bennett's becoming more of a shooter than Gilmour was, but less of a cerebral playmaker.

Michael Dal Colle - Bobby Ryan

Roland McKeown - Jake Gardiner

Spencer Watson - Brian Gionta without the grit

That's what I was about to write. Reinhart might be a slightly better goal-scorer, thought.

I saw Henrik Sedin in Sam Reinhart. I do think that Sam will have a bit more of a complete game, with a bit more of a scoring touch, but maybe not the point totals due to Henrik's assists?

idk

Haydn Fleury reminds me a bit of Jay Bouwmeester.

And although it seems like there's a Corey Perry comparison every draft, Jake Virtanen is about the best Corey Perry clone I've seen. The way he slithers between defensemen and the boards, as well as getting his stick in tight places. He's the most wormish played I've seen apart from Perry.

I actually like this comparison. Not fantastic skating, good but not great size, brains on brains on brains and an effective cycle game below the hashmarks. I'd almost go with Daniel though because Sam can score

From everything I've seen of Kapanen his dad really is the best comparable in terms of playing style. He just doesn't have Sami's defensive game yet, but Sami really didn't excel defensively either until he had played in the NHL for a few years first.

Wow. This one is perfect.

The RNH one makes no sense other than that they are both cerebral pass first types. In terms of style Reinhart isn't like Nuge, but it's not too far off.

Couture is not of a pure shooter while Reinhart is more of a passer, I think Couture is a better skater but Reinhart thinks the game better.

If you need to say "bigger, stronger, faster" etc version of so-and-so, it's not a very good comparison.

Thank you for adding to the thread.

In terms of style he's like Marchand, feisty, skilled, and competitive.

He just brings a bigger and faster package.

No, not really. Kasperi is right handed, has amazing hands and arsenal of 1on1 moves and plays more flashier style than Sami ever did. His also bigger than his Dad(5'9 vs 6'0). Aside their speed and shot they are not really that similar.

Maybe only because both are from nations with not much starpower.
