Will have to learn to live with a different sensation but it looks like he'll be able to go full throttle by season start. Music to my ears.

Too bad for our opponents.

"It's not really connecting down there", Erik Karlsson about his foot that's numb & lack nerves after the freak accident last season. #Sens

"The normal feeling isn't there, but I'm getting used to not normal", Erik Karlsson being his normal self at the Team Sweden preOlympicCamp.

"I'm sure I'll be able to skate 100% when season starts", says Erik Karlsson and adds: "this summer been my best so far workoutwise #sens

That kind of stuff still scares the **** out of me. Even if he is optimistic.

Same, though I'm cautiously optimistic.

I hope, but I'm not all that optimistic.

Reading about having nerve problems made me more worried than before.

He is confident, and very cocky...I love it.

If he can get his achilles functioning normal then he will be the best player on the planet.

I know the injury has a high severity but it's crazy to think what Cooke did earlier this year could/will affect Karlsson for the rest of his career.

I hope we have the fast paced explosive Karlsson like 2011-12.

When he came back last season, which was a miracle might I add, he didn't appear to be the same.

---
Sens see Cooke's new team, the Minnesota Wild, two times this season.

November 20th in OTT
January 14th @ MIN

I want Neil/Kassian/Smith to avenge still.

Don't see how anyone can read those quotes and have a good feeling.

It may be a matter of massage. It may just be scar tissue that needs to be worked out and then the nerves will be back to normal.

I am not that worried too be honest. He is just going to have to learn to live with a different sensation.

At worst, he'll be a M-A Bergeron gone offensively insane.

Every other player who has suffered this injury has stated that it takes around a year for you to "feel right" again. It doesn't mean you can't play on it and be perfectly fine, it just feels weird for quite some time.

This. Players have fully recovered from this type of injury. I expect karlsson to fully recover as well.

I still don't think he will be back to the Norris Karlsson next season, but I am optimistic he will be slightly better then he was when he returned last year...

Keep in mind that nerves grow extremely slowly, we're talking like mm a month. But the overall strength and everything else can be there, like he said it's an adjustment to a new sensation is all.

Before people freak out too much about Karlsson saying that his Achilles does not feel right, all players say the exact same thing when coming back from this injury. I remember Selanne saying it when he was coming back, and the player from Van (sorry, his name escapes me) warned about that when Karlsson was first injured. It takes a long while to get used to it, but it does not take away any mobility or speed.

This, but also they need to grow back to their original targets which they may or may not do.

But overall, his leg is 100% functional in terms of muscle and tendon and any loss of ability likely comes from discomfort or psychological worry about hurting it or causing damage etc. He probably won't like being hit in the corners much next season.

I seem to remember an interview during the playoffs where karlsson admitted that it was mainly psychological worry that caused him to play badly, not the injury itself.

I think so too. All along he has talked about how it feels and comfort but has said it doesn't hurt. This is exactly what was said by other players who had the same injury. I'm hoping his competitiveness will help him deal with the mental stuff.

Still a 75% Karlsson is still better than the vast majority of defensemen in the league.
