Leafs take that and run.

I love Spez, always thought HE was the glue of the pizza line. He proved it after heatley left and flopped and alfie was moved off his line yet spez kept producing ppg. He only has 2 years left on contract and I have serious concerns about his back and ability to play even till his mid thirties. This gets the sens another young centre and a 4-5 dman. Trade one of our centres (Kadri would be my choice) for another young blue chip winger.

Leafs would get their 1, max 2 year "win now" while the sens beat the tar out of them for the next 10 years. Spezza goes down with a back injury, leafs never even make the finals and all is back right with the universe.

Interdasting no doubt. Though, given their history, being in the same division, cap issues, and Spezza likely being the shoe in for captain in Ottawa, this trade never happens.

Back in the peak of the leafs vs sens rivalry, I hated Spezza, even though he's from my hometown. Now days though, I wouldn't mind him in blue and white. Imagine: JVR-Spezza-Kessel as your top line haha!

The potential card eh? Kadri's a potential #1C.

Lmao at all the leads fans who suddenly believe in kadri being a number 1. The odds of it not happening are equal to the odds of it happening. It's not a sure thing.

This is hilarious to me, and probably anyone paying attention. After the last few seasons on this board where every proposal started by a leaf fan involved these exact two players. You guys were offering these two for everyone available. Now suddenly after 1 season they are untouchable.

And also lmao at the guy who adde petry an Hemsky along with rnh for these two an kulemin. You've gotta be kidding me

I like the original poster. He's not clouded by the haze of one good season.

And before you all wig out, I like the leafs and feel it ls very possible these two build on there seasons. It's just funny to me the 180 you guys have done the last year. Never seen anything like it.

I somewhat agree with you mainly because I was among the few leaf fans not crucifying Kadri. I do believe he can be a 1C and almost certain it will happen, I don't see much in Franson however and never did.

I can see that. Duchene also grew up being a huge Av fan too. So obviously he wants to be there. Playing for his childhood team I'm sure is a dream gig for him. With the uncertain future of ROR in Denver, and who knows what the intent management has with Statsny. I'm guessing he'll be a trade deadline mover. I couldn't see Colorado trading Duch for anything less than massive overpayment.

Ottawa would be asking for Reilly + Kadri + for Spezza even with his back concerns he could make Kessel into a 100pt player

I'd be too afraid to have spezza on the leafs. His back problems are a concern but i dont see any sens centers even becoming remotely close to his level, although it may be because i'm not a zibby or pageau fan. If i'm trading spezza i want a player of kadri's quality plus a top 5 first, plus a really good d prospect.. I'd find it impossible to trade him to the leafs without a massive overpayment .

Since when do teams trade #1 centers? They don't go anywhere unless they are pending UFA's or cost too much in salary.

Also, to the one fella who asked, Stepan is not getting dealt to the Leafs..

If ir ment getting RNH Leafs take that and run. A line of JVR RNH Kessel would be deadly. Fact
is Hemsky is more skilled than Kulemin could ever DREAM of being and in the offseason Toronto clears an extra 2.2 in space.

Seriously though, the leafs like to ice two scoring lines where Kessel creates on the top line and them RNH/Lupul would play the second line. Much tougher to match up against and shut down two scoring lines than one.

I like Kadri and Franson but if you grow too atached to the hype of potential you get blinded by it and by who the player actually is. I would much rather cash in while the value high on a sure bet than hold out for hope. Because you know what the difference between crap in hand and hope in the other? Nothing they're both worth crap.
