04-05 contracts?

Are they null and void or are they shifted to 05-06? Can't find definitive info yet anyone one seen a report that speculates?

After the CBA. the next pressing issue is to be sure Cokemanek is gone.
I share your thoughts and prayers Guz, let's keep our fingers crossed.

04-05 WILL count for contracts.

So Luc, Straka, Quintal and Cechmanek are now UFA's and Frolov, Cammy, Belanger, Pirnes, Corvo and Holland (and maybe others) will be RFA's. I don't know about other guys who's contracts may have run out...like Clarke, Rullier, Hauser, Steckel...who knows about them...?

That's good news if true. Can you post current salaries?

Thanks,

Dave

Players under contract:
Aaron Miller ($2.7 million)
Mattias Norstrom ($2.7 million)
Craig Conroy ($2.4 million),
Lubomir Visnovsky ($1.5 million)
Mathieu Garon ($1.2 million)
Nathan Dempsey ($912,000)
Dustin Brown ($912,000)
Denis Grebeshkov ($912,000)
Trent Klatt ($912,000)
Derek Armstrong ($760,000)
Tim Gleason ($646,000)
Sean Avery ($532,000)
Jeff Cowan ($532,000)

Key restricted free agents: Mike Cammalleri, Alexander Frolov

From the article the payroll is around 16.6 mil. The cap is 39 mil. You have to assume 2.5 mil is for benefits. So the payroll is 36.5 mil. That leaves around 20 mil. Sign Frolov & Cammy that leaves 15 mil.

The frenzy will begin sometime next week. Lets hope DT & TL make good on their promise.

The Kings are going to be in an awesome position to go out and get 3-4 good UFA's. You have to feel sorry for teams like Detroit and the Rangers though......................NOT!!!!

Actually, the Rangers have only 6 players under contract for $21,698,000. If they buy out Holik and Kasparaitis they'll be under $12 mil in salary. They are actually positioned pretty well. Add to that that the Caps are paying 50% of Jagr's salary and in one of the great sports ironies, the Rangers are actually just fine. But some teams are in for a world of hurt:

Philadelphia - $33,783,000-13 players
Toronto - $27,067,000-8 players
Detroit - $38,194,000-16 players
Dallas - $22,571,000-8 players
Colorado - $22,825,000-11 players

Where do you find all these numbers jt?

If the Avs will buy out Blake, well, that would be funny.
Being DT, I'll make an offer to Adam Foote, the guy's an UFA and one of the best defensive defenseman on the planet.

Yes but I also wouldn't want to be a team with only 4 people under contract and trying to scramble to find the right people to fill out my roster.

I make them up.

No, I actually get them from the NHLPA's 12/9/04 offer: http://www.nhlpa.com/Proposal/NHLPAcomProposal.pdf.

I think the Avs are going to have problems if the new CBA doesn't allow them to renegotiate contracts...which I haven't seen mentioned anywhere.

True. They're going to have an awfully busy time filling that roster. But they'll also have plenty of cap space to do it.

West Coast golf nut Mogilny also might be an option, depending on his nagging hip injury. Is Mathieu Garon ready to be a Hollywood netminder? Maybe. Maybe not, meaning Taylor will need some veteran help between the pipes. Former Canadian junior sensation Mike Cammalleri had a breakout year in the AHL, finishing second in scoring to Ottawa's Jason Spezza, and could assume a significant role as a third- or fourth-line scorer.
Anyone who suggests Allison could/would/should return has low credibility.

Actually jt it has been said that no team would be able to restructure contracts in order to fit under the cap. Your only option is to buy them out.
