Pit-tor

To pits:

Phaneuf (#1-2 D)
Rielly (top prospect)
1st round pick (most likely 15-23)

To Tor
Malkin

PS: yes I know Crosby has concussion issues. And Leafs' D without phaneuf is pathetic.

IS THE VALUE THERE?

No way Pittsburgh even considers that for a second. For Malkin it would have to be

Kessel
Rielly
Phaneuf
Gardiner
1st round pick

For pittsburgh to even consider it, then again they aren't trading Malkin.

Malkin is that valuable.

something tells me the penguins won't trade the 2nd best player on earth that they just signed to an 8 year extension for a package centered around 1 year of Phaneuf

It's not nothing, but I doubt it's close to enough for a player of Malkin's calibre.

Make it....

Kessel
Kadri
2X 1st rounders

And they'd probably listen.

Isn't enough value going to the Pens for them to consider moving one of the top 3 players in the world.

That is totally unreasonable.

I know it is Malkin, but please. Teams don't give up 4 of their top players + a 1st for any player.

Especially one who has an injury history.

Only way Pitts trades Malkin anyways is if they can't make him work under the cap (which they most likely could), and in that scenario he wouldn't fetch something like that ^

There are certain players around the league, Malkin being one of them, where theres absolutely no reason at all to think theres even the slightest chance theyll get traded in the next 12 months. So why even bother with trade proposals for these guys?

Malkin, Toews, Doughty, Karlsson, Etc. etc. Players of this calibre simply dont get moved, unless theyre pending UFAs, or if theyre close to retirement and want to go to a contender, or if there are rumours of the player not fitting well in the organization for whatever reason. None of these apply to Malkin.

Yes they do:

Eric Lindros

for

Peter Forsberg, Steve Duchesne, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci, Ron Hextall, Chris Simon, Philadelphia's 1993 1st-round draft choice (Jocelyn Thibault), Philadelphia's 1994 1st-round draft choice (Nolan Baumgartner) and $15,000,000.

Add Kadri. Pittsburgh fans won't like it but I'm pretty sure Malkin wouldn't fetch more than that.

This no longer happens.

Dion Phaneuf + Nazem Kadri + Morgan Rielly + 1st rounder is a very good deal.

For me personally... any deal involving Phaneuf is a non starter. He has such a terrible attitude when he comes to stay here in PEI that even his neighbours are fed up with him. I don't think I could even watch anymore Pens games until he was gone if he was on the team.

Just so I get this straight... A top line star winger, 2 Blue Chip defence prospects (one of which is already NHL tested) a top pairing defenceman (arguably a #1 but a #2 on any team at worst) plus a 1st rounder? That's the value? Really?!?

Did you just quote a trade from 22 years ago? I'll quote one from 25 years ago. The Oilers gave up more and received less than you want for Malkin???

F Wayne Gretzky -- 696 games, 583 goals, 1086 assists, 1669 points.
F Marty McSorley -- 247 games, 24 goals, 40 assists, 64 points.
F Mike Krushelnyski -- 442 games, 146 goals, 196 assists, 342 points.

FOR

F Jimmy Carson -- 160 games, 104 goals, 103 assists, 207 points.
F Martin Gelinas -- Had yet to play in the NHL.
3 1st- round draft picks -- 1989 (sent to New Jersey, which drafted Jason Miller), 1991 (Martin Rucinsky) and 1993 (Nick Stajduhar).
$15 million US in cash

Sounds good to me... add 15million and 3 1st round draft picks to Reilly, Kadri, and Gardiner.... Keep Phaneuf though

and I'd still want Malkin more

i can't believe someone in here is trying to argue that the OP is even remotely close to fair value.

it's not. it's a garbage offer.

Malkin. Is. Not. Available.

i really don't get why these lousy proposals keep popping up. they can't even be taken seriously anymore. i don't even consider them as just ridiculous proposals anymore; i now consider them troll posts.

lock this up.

If Pens were going to trade Malkin then Toronto wouldn't be the tea, I target.
