I would wait until his next contract before declaring that.

This is simply a bridge contract.

Happy they finally got a deal done.

Anyone know if this is a 1 way or 2 way deal? Or if part of the deal was Nyquist won't go back to GR?

After so many years in the AHL, they don't accept 2-way deals anymore.

They deserve one way deals. If I were Tatar or Nyquist I would give Kenny the finger if he tried to put me on a two way deal.

All of our RFAs signed really cheap, I'm pretty surprised. I over estimated all 4 of these guys contracts.

Brendan Smith has a lot to prove, but it's way too soon to give up on him.

What's the trade value for nyquist? I know he just resigned but hypothetically is there a dman (not named yandle or oel) or dman + that would get nyquist to Phoenix?

No. Not realistically anyway.

Anybody D not named Yandle or OEL isn't worth shipping off Nyquist. Wings would want an upgrade here and now to move Nyquist for a D and outside of Yandle/OEL, the Coyotes don't have that.

Rundblad or Gormley would be nice prospects, but the Wings have their own assortment of high-upside D prospects that are within a couple years of the NHL. (Also, I'd imagine that it would be Nyquist+ for one of those guys, and I have no interest in that)

Yay, about time.

Could be one heck of a steal.

I'm so excited for this season!

How many points we see him getting? I'll go with 10-15g and 20-25a

Basically as dumb as it sounds, it comes down to stats, not potential.

Filppula had great stats 2 years ago... thus he makes more than we think he is worth.

Nyquist always looks good, but hasn't had the time to put up any decent stats yet, thus the low pay.

Lets all hope he is UNDERPAID for the remainder of this deal, and that we have to pay him alot later, because that will mean, he is putting up nice stats, which mean we are winning

Assuming he plays 82 games, on the third line with 2nd unit PP time (possibly)? 35 points. 14 goals, 21 assists.

Great deal. Kinda wish it would have been for more... The Nightmare Scenario is still alive and well. This troubles me deeply.

The Goose is loose! Big fan of Nyquist, I hope he gets second line minutes this season. I know many of you want to see a kid line, but I'm not in that camp.

The only one I can think of is where he doesn't live up to expectations.

Even if he's great, and you can't fit him into the team structure, you can always move a young talented player for futures. St. Louis was able to move Perron and get a 2nd round pick along with Magnus Paajarvi, a former top 10 pick. Paajarvi is cheaper but not yet to Perron level, so it gives them time to build the rest of their roster.
