Not a huge surprise. Not the first place that has us as a contender. This team looked damn good while missing it's entire starting lineup last year. They are all healthy now, and we massively upgraded our winger situation.

Phew, now I can stop wishing for it every time the clock reads 3:33, 5:55 etc. A real weight off my shoulders.

This team could be anywhere.

They could miss the playoffs if luck doesn't go our way. But when all cylinders are firing, the Ottawa Senators are a good enough team to win the Stanley Cup.

Us winning the Cup, this year, would be the ultimate of ultimate trolls.

To do list :

1 . Win Stanley Cup.
2. Spend a week, nay, a month partying.
3. Laugh my fat arse off at Player 11.
4. Profit.

If the big guns stay healthy, anderson continues to dominate and a couple youngsters break out it's possible.

We are only a top 6 RW and a top for D away from being a threat, so why not?

Oh yeah, because we need a top 6 RW and a top 4 D.

I hope the article is right, but I don't see it this year. Maybe if we add the right pieces at the trade deadline.

Playoffs are too hard to predict. Ottawa is easily a candidate for the Presidents trophy. But unless one team is an absolute juggernaut, it's impossible to say who will win the cup.

So much luck is involved. Sometimes a good team comes into the playoffs cold, or matched with a team with a worse record who just some how has their number for that series. One team winning a series completely can change who your team faces.

Imagine if the Islanders pulled through and took out the Penguins. Or even if Toronto didn't collapse and took out Boston. The entire Eastern Conference would have changed completely based on how each team fared against their different opponent.

Maybe I'm in a bubble as a Senators fan, but, if hockey were predetermined, as everything is now, Ottawa winning the cup would easily be the most intriguing ending.

I hope Detroit is out of the playoffs at the deadline. And we acquire Alfredsson for a 2nd rounder and a prospect.

I think the universe would implode.

I'm in that mindframe as well but it's the offseason and hope springs eternal.

I don't see it, were good but in no way favourites. I'm sorta hoping this doesn't become a trend because this site will be all over it with over rated talk.

Anything is possible to be honest. I can see a path where we could win a stanley cup next year. Here is some factors that must happen in order for a cup to be possible

1. Our team stays healthy
2. Spezza, ryan and karlsson gain chemisty together
3. Our young guys perform as they should
4. Anderson and lehner keep on beating it up next season
5. We pick up one or two players at the trade deadline.

If all those factors happen, i could see us making a deep run in the playoffs.

From one extreme to the next, I personally like the underdog role. For a young team things like this can go to their heads, I really hope it doesn't.

Oh don't get me wrong I could see how it could happen and I pray it does, I just don't think we are favourites.
