Who knows what's true regarding their financials? Besides Franson is an RFA & Fleischmann has two yrs on his contract so neither would be UFAs at season's end.
I'm just saying that Melnyk has directly and unequivocally addressed the issue of spending for additional players should Murray think we need one. Within his statement are parameters for the consideration of taking on additional salary. Maybe those are flexible to an extent, dependent on the player in question (Fleischmann a good option IMO).
We don't know because, in the eyes of most, Melnyk's credibility is shot so if he said the sky was blue we'd do a doubletake out the window to see if he were lying. On this particular point though it seems pretty straight forward. I believe him. Sue me.
