Interesting Ottawa Senator Facts

Post anything from anywhere whether it be funny, interesting or educational.
Ex Job led the ottawa senators with 5 goals through a quater of the season well playing on the 4th line. Kassain's power play percentage is 100 percent.

Alfredsson only got one prediction correct in his time with Ottawa.

We were the first team to ever have 3 picks in the 1st round in 2011. Then Calgary and Columbus started to copy us with their own 3 pick selections in the 1st round in this past June's draft.

Edit: Thanks btw Ben, been looking for that video of him melting in particular for a while and realized Youtube wasn't going to give it to me.

JOB was our active leading goal scorer, but Karlsson's 6 goals were ahead of him the entire year.

Since the lockout, only two series have gone to six or more games. 2010 vs the Pens and 2012 vs the Rangers. The rest all went five games, and one went four games. Eight went five games.

The Sens have only ever gone up 2-0 in a series once - 2007 vs Buffalo. The game to go up 2-0 they became the first team that series to come back against Buffalo when they had a 2-0 lead.

Sens were the first ever winners of a shootout in the NHL. (Over the Leafs might I add )

Senators spelled backwards is Srotanes, but not too many people know this.

Fans of the original Sens would throw lemons at opposition players. And the player who got the most thrown at him was Cyclone Taylor (he left for money, sounds like Yashin)

How on Earth did you manage that? The first game after the lockout in the Leafs rink, the tickets must have been hella expensive.

My dad bought the tickets. I was really young at the time. I actually went to two games. A preseason game against the habs and that leafs game. Went to the last preseason game against the habs, then i got on a train with my dad to go to see the leafs game.

Petr Schastlivy is the only modern day Sens player to wear four different jersey numbers - 56, 16, 13 & 19

Jesse Winchester (of all people) scored the Sens 4,000th modern day goal (November 9th, 2010 in a 5-2 win vs the Atlanta Thrashers)

The Sens worst winning percentage vs an NHL team is against the LA Kings (0.340)...its best is versus the Minnesota Wild (0.773)

The last player drafted by the Sens to score 20 goals in one season (with the Sens) is Patrick Eaves in his rookie year

Only 2 defensemen drafted by the Sens have ever put up 35+ points in a season - Erik Karlsson & Andrej Meszaros

Mike Fisher has the most Sens regular season overtime goals in modern day history - 7. Next highest is 4 (Alfredsson)

Fastest Sens regular season overtime goal - Radek Bonk (28 seconds in versus Boston on March 11, 2003)

This is one of the reason why that Corvo goal is my favorite OT goal ever. That game whole was insane!

I do not know why that first one keeps getting repeated....Jason Spezza.

And the second one, I can only think of one example off the top of my head, but Bryan Berard scored more than 35 points and fits that criteria.

It's just worded awkwardly, Spezza was drafted before Eaves. So Eaves was the last player the Sens drafted (2003) to do it, not the last player the Sens have ever drafted to accomplish.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Spezza hold the Senators record for PIM in an single game.

Adding a touch of irony to that is the fact we won the first ever shootout, and have been among the worst teams in the shootout, if not the worst, since it was instituted.

I'm not sure if we are still the worst, but at a point not too long ago I believe we were.

I'm sure some of you remember Spezza gave up #39 for Hasek.

Spezza also wore #44 (Eaves) for a couple of shift in the 2007 playoffs one game.
