Would a duo of Subban and Karlsson be the best D duo on the PP ?

As title says, would a duo composed of Subban and Karlsson be the BEST D Duo on the PP in the entire league ?

Karlsson is hot garbage on the PP - Markov-Subban is superior on the man advantage.

Well of course. Who else would be? Or do you mean I could make my own hypothetical pairing, for example, Letang-Subban?

Nope. Weber-Karlsson would be better.

Karlsson's strengths include his ability to get the puck from his own end to the offensive end - either himself alone, skating it out of danger, or hitting a forward with speed with a pass. Those attributes aren't as useful on the power play..

Point production != power play skills.

Power play skills actually don't have much to do with 5v5 hockey at all; there's a laundry list of players who are highly effective at creating or finishing PP scoring chances but are mediocre or even useless at 5v5.

So you're basically saying Karlsson is better at even strength competitive hockey and Subban needs to handicap the opposition to generate offense...seems right

Karlsson is by far the best player in the NHL at getting his shots to the net.

You can apply your bias however you'd like but Subban dominates 5v5.

Have a read of Subban vs his peers.

Compared to other teams? Then yes.

If we can put any 2 players together in the league then no.

By being 35th overall in points?

Anyways, I agree with you on Karlsson. PP isn't a "big" strength of his. He's better than 95% of the defensemen on the PP, but what really sets him apart is 5 on 5.

Letang is a stud putting up points 5on5. but he's not as effective on the PP.

i think green would be better than karlsson, on the PP obviously. subban would be a downgrade from OV though

I just believe Markov is a better fit for Subban than Karlsson is. If both Subban and Karlsson are on the ice, when they pinch down low who will cover for eachother if they happen to both pinch at the same time? Karlsson imo really doesnt know defence that well and will have troubles covering for Subban imo, Subban will be better vice versa. Markov does a better covering the defensive duty for Subban >> Karlsson would imo... thats why I see this hypothetical d pairing more as a disaster than anything.

Considering in 11-12 Karlsson lead dmen in shots and was 20th overall in shots. Last season Karlsson was 1st(Forwards and dmen) in the NHL for total shots before getting injured.

Not really debatable. Karlsson is the best at it.

pacioretty led the league in shots/60min if im not mistaken. Karlsson is very very good at it though. He is a very efficient shooter because all his shots are very tippable and good for rebounds. Subban doesnt need that though because he just snipes it himself

That was a long time ago... 2 seasons ago to be exact. The only thing Karlsson has proved since then is that he is injury prone imho. No one should be using stats from 2 seasons ago. it just doesnt mean **** all right now.

So if random player gets in an accident driving to work and is injured does that make them injury prone too?
