He is in the 3rd year of a 3 year deal, but I'm sure Ak Bars will try to re-sign him.

Also, here's a good interview with Morozov from the KHL website.

http://en.khl.ru/news/2013/8/17/25210.html

He talks about his exit from Ak Bars.

Nonsense, how can you possibly support him after what he has done? There was a clear video where he wrestles with a cop, it's not like your usual allegations. Evidence is right there. :/

Tereshchenko is a defensive center, his role is pivotal to Ak Bars, there's no point in bringing him to the top. And yeah, the Varnakov-Burmistov-Stapler line appears to be a done deal.

Pretty nice. The thread is quickly becoming an AkBars haters convention. Carry on. We're used to it. It's part of the success.

On a side note: yep, we seem to have a strange fan base in Ontario. To the ppl who probably never were at a game in Kazan, I don't think you can talk about the AkBars fan base.

What evidence? The vid where you can't see him doing the things the cops accuse him of doing? Somehow I doubt idiots installed the cameras and built in that dead angle where alll the bad things seem to happen. They are probably holding back the most important footage which makes their accusation pretty doubtfull.

Yes, you can see Lukoyanov being rough with the cops. That's basically the case with drunken guys being arrested. Yes, it's worth some minor punishment. But for some "magic" reason there is no footage of Lukoyanov hitting the cop in the head causing severe injury(where the hell is that injured cop in the vid?) or him trying to take the weapon from the cop. But that's what the cops accuse him of.

Even though he's a home boy, I think Mr.Burmistrov has a lot to prove until he becomes an obvious choice. He may start with scoring his first goal for example.

Hey Atas2000 since u seem to be the biggest Ak Bars fan i've seen on the forum can u rank the top 5 most valuable AK Bars players... from 5 to 1 and by valuable i mean who would be the biggest loss to the team if we lose them and what place do u think we will come this year.

Well, your posts are pretty offensive towards other fanbases(Riga). Let's say we don't appreciate such behaviour in Kazan... even if it's the Green War and we are 3 goals down. There is a very respectfull culture towards other team's fans.

As for the attendance it's not hockey related. I hope it will change this year as the traffic and parking problems should be solved now. Still will be a tough job to communicate it and brake the "bad habits" installed by the situation in the previous years. You can't expect ppl to come to games as you would be able to reach the arena at the start of the 2nd period(as happened to me many times).

Hope for better attendance of Ak Bars. I like NEW ICE idea (meeting with fans for those who dont follow club), good start how to attract fans. Do you know how many fans came to arena?

Did u not read my earlier post i was joking about the Riga ii just wanted to smack talk the other team we r facing so read the whole thing before u say something i don't actually hate Riga. and i would not mind watching the games from the second period if i get to watch my favorite hockey team play it doesn't matter when or where i watch them.

Going by overall value I will put away the newcomers for now as I have to see them play some 10-20 games to evaluate how they fit in.

1.Nikulin is the top D-man, leader and probably captain to be. Can't see how we could replace him if he'd be gone for some reason.

2.Tereschenko. Too many things he brings to the team. Top two-way forward, workhorse, PK specialist, faceoffs(especially with our best faceoff man gone in Immonen. Svitov should help in that dept. though), a veteran leader, one of the nicest personalities I encountered in sports. The only position he's not suited for is top line center, but if we're talking about depth of our roster in the past years it's all because we've had a Tereschenko as our 2nd or 3rd line center.

3.Barulin. Obviously our starter. In all honesty I'm not 100% happy with him. He's had his flaws when we signed him. Problem is he still has them(goes down early and gets scored on high. that's technique. lets some weird angle goals in. that's concentration and positioning. as a goalie with his contract and status as a NT goaltender I expect him to work on those flaws and get rid of them). He's had a dominant regular season, but in the playoffs he was solid, but he didn't exactly stole us games let alone series. He's still one of the best goalies in the league and obviously very valuable.

4.Medvedev. He's had a down year, but I think he can and will rebound in a more offensive role maybe. His pairing with Kulyash wasn't exactly my favorite one.(We miss Yemelin... much)

5.Pesonen/Obukhov. Pesonen is the secondary goal scoring. Obukhov too and then, he's the glue. He's been on every winning team.

Now my expectations for the new guys:

I do like the signing of Svitov. Salavat tried to outwork and outmuscle us in the playoffs despite of a less skilled roster overall. And they nearly succeded. Good job by Yurzinov. He did the right thing with the assets he had. We need Svitov's size and face offs. We won't probably have a 2nd and 3rd line again so he and Tereschenko will center our 2 "2nd lines".

I hope Varnakov can be his best self with us. He was signed as a top line player. All he needs to do now is score goals.

Burmistrov is at that red line now. He can become our next Morozov or stumble, get frustrated and run for the next best NHL 3rd liner spot. I'm not impressed with his character, but he's very young still and his speed and skill are amazing, something Mr.Noel doesn't seem to need in his system.

Stapleton is a clear case of a player more suited for the big ice. I can see him repeat easily. A very dynamic duo we'll have there. Hope they can fight through some big shut down guys.

I have higher hopes for Vincour propbably than most ppl. But I like his size and skillset. Maybe a better option than Varnakov on the top line to spread the wealth. After signing Burmistrov, Stapleton and Bourque we need some tall men out there.

Heshka is pretty much an unknown, mostly because of his role. He was kind of an OD in his career, but what we need desperately is a reliable DD. Well, he's a WHL product after all. So I expect some good ol'canadian hits in the own zone from him. A couple I have seen in pre-season games so I'm optimistic. If he can help the PP - good for us.

Bourque gets the biggest question mark. Yep, it's size. He needs some skill and speed to make up for it. Let's hope for the best. I'll never count out a smaller player just for his size before I see him play. And he can bring some NA shoot first mentality as some diversity to the team's game. Just enough of it I hope.

Osipov is unreliable as hell in his own zone. That's why we need more DDs. I can't see how Panin can make up for Osipov's mistakes. But having Osipov's shot on the 3rd pairing is rich!

Now for the rookies:

Tkachev. All I can say - pumped! Tremendous work ethic at age 19, size! and skill. Liked him on the U20 NT. I have high hopes for this young man. Hopefully Belov gives him enough opportunities to show his worth.

Yarullin. The man has a brilliant shot, but how the hell does he want to play KHL hockey without any muscle? As a D-man moreover. He also makes some typical rookie mistakes on the ice still.

Faizullin. Take Yarullin with you and go to the gym! Guys, Burmistrov is 21 and Tkachev 19. They don't look like skinny girls. I would understand if Belov wouldn't give those two too much ice time.

Predictions are for the trash can. I expect the team to make the playoffs. Whether they can survive the East there will highly depend on how they grow together as a team with so many new faces. If they don't make it through the first round I will save it as growing pains, but only for this one season. after that I expect the management to build and take measures if necessary.

Well, facing the choice of watching the whole game at home or at a bar or missing a whole period makes me choose to go to the arena only for the blockbusters. A lot of ppl think the same...

About half the arena was full. So must have been around 5000.

Although it may be a factor in the low attendances, driving/parking arrangements aren't the only things affecting it.

Ak-Bars have bottom barrel marketing and have not even updated their website once.

It doesn't take a Kazan native to look at the IIHF statistics and see a declining trend in average attendance over the years, while the whole league averages up.

There are literally teams with a bunch of nobodies in non-hockey areas that draw more fans.

Atas2000, am I getting your view correctly?
The Ak-Bars Tatneft arena is the most poorly positioned arena in all of Europe?
