Who Do/Did You Model Your Game After And Why?

For me, I modeled my game after Matthew Barnaby. He wasnt my favorite player but i liked to chirp, smile and yell like a crazy man.

Lindros. I knocked people around and then scored.

Magnus Arvedson with Claude Lemieux's anger management prowess.

I was the slowest skater/biggest body on my line, so I tried to play defensively aware and physical to make up for 2 5'10" speed demons.

No one. I have power forward size (6'4'') and while I will play physical and hit, the strength of my game is in my hands and vision, so the main + I bring is more on the finesse side. Also, I am not super defensively, my primary job is to create offensively.

Let's go with Rick Nash then.

I try to be like Patrice Bergeron! Great defensively, but able to pitch in offensively too.

Whoever can skate decently with hands of stone. It's not on purpose.

Curtis Joseph.

I'm a leafs fan and still remember that 1993 series he was playing for the blues; the leafs outplayed st. louis every game in that series and yet the blues pushed it to game 7. Joseph stood on his head (as he did the series before in a sweep over the 1st place hawks). I've never seen a goalie steal as many games his team had no business winning in a playoff year (though giguere in 2003 comes close) nor have I ever gained as much admiration for an opposing player. That is what swayed me to become a goaltender and I always wanted to be the underdog goaltender because it makes winning so much more meaningful when you're expected to lose.

Alex Tanguay because he was a guy I watched ever since I was 5. I became more of a shoot-first guy later on in Midget/Junior but had a well-developed playmaking ability to go with it.

Shane Doan at forward. He's slow and has hands of stone but works hard every shift. Sounds like me.

I modeled my game after Ian LaPerriere. I'm 6'0 and built like a line backer at 230 lbs. I'm not quick on my skates but I have good balance. The only way I can keep up in the leagues I play in is by giving 100% every shift. I get infront of the net in our offensive zone, and the D has a tough time moving me... But I also stick on my point man, and my linemates if I have too, and I block a ton of shots. I'll clear the puck out or make the solid first pass to one of my line mates. Skate hard, then get the hell off the ice.

I try to model my game after Phil Kessel.

I have the skating ability and speed, now it's just a matter of getting off a shot without slowing down like he does.

I try to model myself after Bergeron. I'm one of the best at faceoffs in both my leagues, if not the best (not that I keep track but I'm very rarely below like 70% in faceoff wins, I seem to be that good at them for some reason which is odd because I'm not that good with the puck ). I try to focus on defense first and foremost but don't have much problem chipping in offensively. I'm probably best defensively in the neutral zone and break up a lot of players with hard forechecking or even back checking when the opportunity arises. I can make it a nightmare for the opposing defense to break out of their zone at times.
