Updates are much appreciated everybody.

Really excited about Klingberg this season. He's still a ways away from helping the big club but I've always liked him and am pulling for him. Fingers crossed.

Wish he was starting in the AHL though...

At least he should be ending in the AHL ... assuming Texas makes the playoffs. If they don't and Frolunda goes the distance, he may not get in a game. His team last year won the championship and he still got in a game.

Vance with a nice defensive play winning a puck battle in the corner, then threw it away up the boards to an opposing player.

Then Lagace gets beat on a screened shot to the high glove side

and as I type Vance and his partner leave a CB player just sitting out front of the net by himself and he tucks it in

EDIT: Vance now throws the puck straight up the middle on the PK, misses his teammate with the pass, puck gets kept in at the line and eventually leads to a goal

Cody Payne scores 2 goals again in a losing effort. He has 4 on the season (Tweet claiming it was his 5th is wrong ... but it made me giggle).

In his first 110 OHL games ... Payne scored 6 goals.

Quote:
Kitchener Rangers ‏@OHLRangers

Saginaw on the board late in the second period. Cody Payne the goal scorer. 3-1 Rangers

Spirit will take that goal...it bounced around the crease and off the Rangers players. Cody Payne gets credit. KIT3 SAG1

Philippe Desrosiers had a shut out going until about 5 minutes left in the game.

Drummondville scores on the PP with 5:16, and Desrosiers was slow to get up per the team twitter but he stayed in the game.

With just over a minute to go Drummondville scored again.

He gets the loss making 26 of 28 saves.

You might say Mike Winther is having an impact on tonight's game

Quote:

Winther scores the first goal of the season! A great pass form Danyluk on a shorthanded rush and its 1-0 Raiders!

@PARaidershockey Mike Winther is now +5 in a 5-1 game over the Saskatoon Blades midway through-- 1 G and 2 A's. Jayden Hart with 2 G's, +3
Still more than 30 minutes left in the game.

I got to take in the knights game live tonight and Elie was fairly mediocre. The had a few nice scoring chances but also a few horrible giveaways. IMO Elie should have gotten an assist tonight on Platzer's second. He was set up for a one timer but wiffed on it and it went right to Platzer who buried it. Elie's strengths and weaknesses were apparent tonight. Great shot and boardwork but needs to make better passes.

And as you say keep your eye on Sean Day for the years to come LT, I say keep your eyes on Mitchell Marner. He was the first round pick of the Knights this summer. So far (in the few games I have seen him) I would say he has puck skills, hockey sense, and vision of Max Domi. Doesn't have the speed (although not far off) or strength of Max though.

Bystrom continues to average about 13 to 14 minutes from the 3rd pair so it's nice to see him having some consistency. 3 shots at net (2 on net).

Molin played 34 seconds today. Don't know if this is more of the same BS as last year or if he's still recovering from an illness. Started the season with 12 minutes, next game suited but didn't touch the ice, 3rd game didn't suit up and it was reported he had a fever, and finally this game he plays 34 seconds.

... like I said. Hopefully he's still recovering from an illness.

Klingberg plays over 22 minutes in a 6-3 loss. No points but he manages to end the game +1.

Troy Vance wins it in round nine. Isles win 3-2.
Lagace DNP today, but his backup stops 25 of 27 in a 5-2 win.

Desrosiers stops 13 of 17 shots before getting pulled. Team loses 6-2.

Mike Winther scoreless in 6-5 win.

Dmitry Sinitsyn scoreless in 3-2 loss.

Through one for SC-REG very impressive period for WSH's Stephenson. Also liked Burroughs (NYI) and Sinitsyn (DAL).
Ully scoreless in 5-2 loss.

Troock scores game winner in shootout:

Great forecheck by Troock, nice setup by D-man to Delnov in front & a nice backhand by Delnov, but a great glove save by Burke. 2-0 TBirds

Branden Troock's shot just trickles in past Burke's pad. Oliver Bjorkstrand his stopped, Seattle wins their home opener 4-3 over Portland.

So when I said Elie would be getting an expanded roll in London this year, I lied. I retrospect it was a foolish comment and I should have looked at the depth more closely. He will once again be suiting up on the fourth line (WJC and beginning of NHL season notwithstanding). For reference this is how I see the lineup for the Knights this year (not that many of you will care )
Domi-Horvat-McCarron
Broadhurst-Tierney-Anderson
Welychka-Rupert-Rupert
Elie-Platzer-Marner

His placement on the fourth line is not indicative to how he's played so far in the preseason or the first game but more because of the depth of the Knights up front.

Edit: looks like Broadhurst has just been assigned to Rockford. If he sticks there it is a possibility that Elie would take his spot on the second line.

Good luck in Rockford buddy. Elie on the 2nd line would be fantastic from a Stars POV.

Lindells good start in mestis has been noticed and he will play in Jokerit-HPK tonight! He probably has 4 games to show his skills until Karalahti comes back from suspension. I hope he gets some PP time.

Kiviaho will once again play backup. I don't like him sitting out this much.

Hansson holds strong on 3rd pair for Rogle, and he's +2.

Klingberg picks up a PP assist in a 2-1 win.

Today's action:

Hopefully Desrosiers gets an opportunity to redeem himself after allowing 4 goals and getting pulled early over the weekend.

Cody Payne tries to continue his goal scoring pace. 2 goals each in the first 2 games.

Dmitry Sinitsyn and Brenden Troock play tonight in the WHL.
