I kinda don't believe Lucic makes the team. The first line could work if Eberle has great season, but if not, he's probably not even going to make the team. The same for Duchene and the second line. I like the Tavares-Bergeron-Giroux line, seems good.

What I definitely agree with is your defence pairing. Keith-Seabrook, makes sense. Pietrangelo-Subban could be a well-rounded couple ...... I don't think Doughty will be the 7th d-man, but he and Marc Staal could be a solid shut-down pair.

Do you have any opinions on Letang-Weber duo guys ? It could be our 1st defensive pairing IMO

EDIT: And boy, Crosby without a letter ?

J. Tavares - S. Crosby (C) - C. Giroux
T. Hall - S. Stamkos - M. St. Louis (A)
L. Couture - J. Toews (A) - R. Nash
E. Staal - R. Getzlaf - C. Perry

Extras:

P. Bergeron, P. Sharp

S. Weber (A) - D. Keith (A)
D. Doughty - A. Pietrangelo
S. Subban - K. Letang

Extras:

D. Hamhuis, B. Seabrook

Undecided on the goalies.

* I've listed 4 alternate captains as they can be rotated on a game by game basis as they were in Vancouver 2010.

Bernier? Seriously?

i dont like the fact that you have Perry but not St.Louis and only 1 left handed D-man.

Bernier isn't as crazy as you may think. He has represented Canada at U18, Junior and WHC. If he lights it up this fall it isn't unreasonable to think that he could get invited to sit on the bench as a third tender in thoughts of the mantle getting passed to him at some point.

St.Louis over Perry I can't disagree with you. He may play until he's 50.

As far as the D, I believe that these 7 guys are at another level to the guys in the next tier as talented as they may be.

I am expecting that they will not pick Letang for the team. Personally, I think that he would be a pretty good fit on international ice. Weber isn't a terrible partner for him either, as his skill set is pretty complimentary. Weber hangs back and plays more conservatively while Letang skates it up. In the defensive zone Weber handles the front of the net. Offensively Letang can set him up for the bomb.

I agree, though I don't think it's likely. I think if Hockey Canada decides to bring on a young third stringer for experience, Holtby's got to be in the driver's seat for that position at the moment. If I had do pick my goalies right now, I'd probably go with:

C. Price
C. Ward
B. Holtby

Bernier is pretty well behind Price, Luongo, Crawford, Holtby and maybe even Smith and Ward. He was a back-up all of his career.

Price, Luongo, Crawford, Holtby, Smith and Ward would have been a back-up to Quick as well. I fail to see your point. That was then, this is now. It would serve the team better to have a guy like Bernier get the experience for 2018. I don't expect him to see any time in net this time.

That's not his point. Bernier is highly uncontested since he was a backup for most of his career.

I agree. The only chance Bernier has of wearing Canada's colours in 2014 is if the Leafs get eliminated and he gets invited to the 2014 WC. There is no chance he makes it to Sochi. Not worth discussing.

Giroux - Crosby(a) - Stamkos
E. Staal - Tavares - MSL(a)
Nash - Toews(c) - Perry
Ladd - Richards - Carter
Getzlaf
Bergeron

Weber(a) - Letang
Keith(A) - Seabrook
Doughty - Pietrangelo
Hamhuis - Subban

Luongo
Price
Holtby

That's how I see it. I think a Crosby - Stamkos duo would be deadly.

If you fail to see my point there is something wrong.

All the guys you named are uncontested #1 goalies. Bernier has never been and even now will have to fight for #1 job with Reimer.

Lets say Luongo gets injured. Price is the back-up and is playing badly... would you prefer one of Crawford, Ward or Holtby or an inexperienced goaltender like Bernier?

If you want someone to gain experience at the Olympics make it Holtby. Young but already a starter.

with goalies personally i like to go with the hot hand, the only goalie i lock in is Luongo and whichever goalies are playing the best when the time comes

First off, I believe that although Bernier hasn't been a starter, he has shown poise when he has gone in net in the NHL and on the international stage. I believe that his skill set is much better than Holtby's and yes I would prefer him going in apposed to him.

Secondly, if he were to get picked for the team, it would be based on his play going into the tournament. The coaching staff stated that they will be going to be looking to a goaltender that was hot going in.

Do I think at he's a long shot? Of course. He's my dark horse going in.

Let's hope Pietrangelo gets his contract quickly sorted out here...if he misses a significant amount of time it could put him behind the 8-ball for Sochi.

That team as you picked it, would probably get Canada regulated to the B division....There's so much wrong with that team it is not even worth discussing.

Exactly. I really hope he has considered that in his line of thinking.

The 3 bolded...

Burns and Smith are very very questionable as well.

A very odd team.

Skinner is really underrated on hf these days (doubt he makes the team though), but yeah that's a pretty bad team

WAY better options than Skinner. Good player but not for Canada.
