4th line center/Habs

Habs need a 4th line center who can hit, put some points and win face off. Some guy comes to my mind: Brian Boyle, Zenon Konopka, Matt Cooke, Mike Rupp, Adam Hall.

Just offer.

Possible player available: David Desharnais, Travis Moen, Gabriel Dumont, Davis Drewiske, Francis Bouillon and Louis Leblanc

Why don't we just sign David Steckel, he does everything there. Not the best option of we are looking for points, but when it comes to face-offs, he's excellent, and the fact that he is 6'5" is a bonus.

Zenon Konopka wins faceoffs but he won't put up points. I'm thinking the Wild could trade him for 4th rd pick or something. He's good at faceoffs, he isn't afraid to drop the gloves but he takes stupid penalties and he can't score.

I don't think the Wild is willing to trade Cooke. I'm not either. I want to see what he can do in a Wild uniform.

Rupp may be available too for the right price.

He's also decent on the PK thanks to his reach.

Not the best skater though.. .having Parros and Steckel on the 4th line (with Murray behind them) could hurt the Habs at times.

Konopka is still signed for 1 year by the wild.

Brad Boyes isn't relevant in the discussion for a 4th center, Brian Boyle is.

We already have a 4th center, Ryan White.

Prust is not a third liner...I know he was used there by the Habs but he's a VERY VERY good 4th liner and a medicore 3rd liner

The thing with Prust is he should be playing more minutes than a 4th line player. While he might not have the skills, he's very valuable on the rink.

Prust actually looked great on the 3rd line with Galchenyuk and Gallagher. He plays well enough to complement pure skill and balance such a line. Not the prettiest but very effective.

If we wanted to, we can't. Thank the Lord for that.

Might as well stick with White or a kid from the farm this season. If it's an issue early, we can always make a trade for a 4th liner during the season.

Prust was on pace for 30 pts over 82 games. can you name one 4th liner in the NHL that comes close to that?

he's easily a solid third liner.

Pretty heavy cap hit for a guy that would be playing 4th line minutes.

Much as I dislike the guy, Matt Cooke would be a nice compliment for the 4th line.

Dumont/Moen

for

Cooke/4th rd pick

Montreal has 7 centers at the moment... Including two who are fit for bottom line duties. Signing an 8th center, or getting one, is hopefully extremely low on MB priorities list.

Mediocre 3rd liner. Great 4th liner. Bad playoff performer

Prust is the kind of guy you want as a fourth liner on your depth chart with everyone fit with the expectation that he'll spend time on the third line when injuries, etc kick in.

If you start off with him in the first choice top nine, your team is probably not good enough.

On the thread subject, Habs already have at least two fourth line centres.
