I had friends over who were all Americans.. What a great moment it was to see my smile spread across my face while they were all mad...

It was probably my favorite moment as a hockey fan!

Came home to watch it with my father and grandfather, just like in 2002.

After the game, I drove down to the Rainbow Bridge, walked half way across and mooned the American side.

Full Disclosure : I do that every Sunday night so it really had nothing to do with the Gold Medal game.

ha ha ha...we discussed this last oct during the lockout when tsn re-played the game - because it was easier for me to dig up that post than re-type., here's what i wrote:

Quote:
where were you when crosby scored?

i was sitting w/ too many friends on a couch too small to hold all of us...and when crosby scored we all jumped up en masse...flipping the coffee table and spraying our nacho dip all over the place...and within seconds we could hear the cars honking on yonge street below us...and we all ran for the door and headed downstairs - and it was all very fantastic

and for old times sake:

edited to add -

although not hockey-related ...

how can we ever forget nikki?

Sitting alone in my apartment in Santa Clara, California. My wife was in Florida, and I wasn't interested in watching the game at a sports bar with my American friends. I remember it being a beautiful day for late February, so I left my balcony door and all my windows open...all my neighbours (predominantly of Asian descent) probably had no idea that there was a hockey game on but I'm sure they knew when every goal was scored. The 3rd period and OT were an emotional rollercoaster, the whole game was really.

Afghanistan...they brought us out a satellite for the game to our combat outpost. When Crosby scored in OT the Afghan National Army troops who were sleeping thought we were being ambushed because of all the yelling.

Was in my dorm at college, watching it on an older tube TV as I didn't have a flatscreen at the time (shocking, I know ), anyways, when Parise scored the tying goal I just shouted a big "YES!" so loud that my entire dorm hall could hear it....and were likely spoiled as they were watching the HD feed (which has a delay) and I was watching the SD feed. During the intermission my dorm mates and I felt excited about the prospect of it actually happening, a comeback of all comebacks to win gold, against Canada, in Canada could make sure that we didn't cling to 1980 anymore.

Then when Crosby scored the OT winner I just turned off the TV in disgust and continued typing a paper that was due the next day.

Yale Town. Had made a friendly wager with a table of Americans next to us for beer, of course. They obviously weren't too happy about the ending but the classy fellows bought us an extra pitcher and wished us a fun night.

I ended up spraining my ankle playing road hockey on Granville. WORTH IT.

I was at a med school interview in Winnipeg. Tried my best to avoid the result but the honking and crazy celebrations on Osborne and at Confusion corner told me everything I needed to know.

At least I got to see 2002 ._.

I was watching with friends at their place.

I swear God, I called Crosby's goal. When I heard "Iggy!" I knew it was going in. I swear God!

Downtown Vancouver in a packed nightclub that had a huge projector for the game. Could barely walk after 2 weeks of binge partying. Flooded into the streets and it was shoulder to shoulder all the way down granville. Clouds of smoke and smiles as far as the eye could see.

I was at home watching and when Crosby scored I went crazy happy.

Plus a few months later I bought the Hockey Canada DVD set which included all of Canada's games, so I always watch and re-live the overtime.

I missed the first 2 periods because I was downtown at my office on a conference call with (American) clients. I'm pretty sure that it was just me and the security staff in the building. Finally one of the partners sent me an email telling me to go home because it would be cruel to miss the game. Made it home when the game was in the 3rd period. (I had PVR'd the game but started watching live).

After the win there was all sorts of cheering on Yonge st, and my intersection was full of people celebrating, waving flags tied to hockey sticks, and literally dancing in the middle of one of the city's busiest intersections. Traffic could not move. People were (peacefully) climbing onto hoods of their own cars. Traffic didn't move for over an hour and the cops were high-fiving everyone. A dirty TTC bus was covered with messages (i.e. Hockey is our game, Go Canada, etc).

It sounds really lame reading it on a message board, but it was incredible. I heard cheering from my apartment and went down to check out what was going on and there was a huge spontaneous celebration that lasted for over an hour. It was amazing.

In my living room in Phoenix, AZ. It was me and my dad and brothers watching the game..

I remember when USA tied it we were all literally jumping up and down in excitement.

I also remember after the Olympics ended hockey really kinda had an empty feel. The NHL wasn't nearly as exciting as the Olympics. That feeling wore off though.

Boston at my buddies house. Very depressing then became even more so when Three friends rolled up with two wasted Canadian girls after the game was over. One of them told the funniest story about Brent Seabrook. The other yelled at me about Brian Burke and then realized I watch a lot of hockey and made of an ass of herself when she fell through a coffee table.

I was at home in my living room alone. Thank god for that. I don't like people seeing me cry. It took me a long time to forgive the entire nation of Canada.

Amazing story! Love how in the midst of everything else, there is still time to enjoy such an epic, classic moment.

I was in boring old Livecity Yaletown. Stayed downtown for hours afterwards. Probably the happiest and most memorable I've ever felt as a fan of any sport

Same here: I was the first to yell "It"s in!" out of 30 people at my house.
