Awesome that they are streaming it... it even works in europe!

And lmao at 'looking bigger' though tbh the guy looks enormous, not inconceivable he will grow more.

A guy who I used to play on a team with who was listed as 6'6 for us at u18, but was closer to 6'9 by the end of the season... he went to the Olympics last year and they properly measured him and listed him as 6'8.

They also said he looks bigger every time they see him.

It's looks like they're going to have him go up against Russia's top line in Barbashev & Zykov tonight.

Morins hands are looking really good... some of the little passes he has made under pressure have been great.

Morin has a powerful wrist shot...too bad he has Matt Carle accuracy.

He's looked pretty good though.

I now know why I always see cross checking & slashing penalties in the game boxes for Morin. He's pretty aggressive with his hockey stick.

Nice Claude Giroux poster on the wall in the locker room there.

Have there been a lot of penalties? I keep checking back to stoppages due to penalties.

Yeah, he is going to need to rein that in a little bit. You know those will be penalties here as well - and it will quickly become annoying to be killing those penalties. Especially as a big and strong guy, he doesn't need half the stick-work he has shown tonight.

He dominates the boards, He is a great poke checker, but like i have said all year he has had trouble with these little quick players in the Q ( and there are alot of those) in space. He is so big that when he tries to put a body on a much smaller player he can miss easily then he gets beat. If he can't poke check in space he is vulnerable.

Well, the only shift I had a chance to see Morin on was the one where Russia scored their 2nd goal.

How did the rest of his game go?

He's a project. I think his good camp made some fans think he could be ready soon but he is so big, it will take a couple of years for him to just catch up coordination wise with his size. Small fast spark plugs guys will probably give him some trouble his whole career as they do Chara from time to time but he is way ahead of Chara at the same age so that's a great sign.

I'm not expecting him to be ready soon but I sure do have high hopes for him. He is too huge to be an impact guy anytime in the next few years.

Surprise, surprise... Habs fans are trashing Morin on the Prospect board.

People need to remember that this series is just to get him ready to take on a big role for Hockey Canada next year at the WJC.

Yep. He will become a monster. He is only 18. It takes some time to put all those big moving parts together. And it starts with the heart which he has!

We already knew he had some work to do, he did surprise in camp and the preseason but we expected him to take some time to develop.

Why do you guys care what other fans are saying? Morin had a terrible, terrible game, but as stated above, we knew that he was a longer term project when he was drafted. He'll look insanely good and insanely bad at different times. That's what you get with immensely talented projects.

Up until the one sequence where he got walked for the goal, everyone was talking about how well he was playing. Morin gets the same treatment from Habs fans that Couturier gets from Ottawa fans. That's all I was pointing out.

It's not just Habs fans in that thread. Morin had a poor game and got undressed badly on the second goal. He wasn't horrible all night, but he certainly didn't stand out.

Is he still a tremendous prospect? Sure. He'll have much, much better games than he did last night.

He was undressed, but it was the type of play where a lot of defensemen are going to get undressed. The forwards did nothing to slow the guy up or funnel him through the neutral zone. So, he hits the blue line going a million miles an hour with either side of Morin to attack. That kind of thing happens to even the best at the NHL level when the play breaks down like that. Not surprising though, that game had an allstar game level of compete from some of the players.

I guess I'm just a little disappointed because of the way he played in camp. I suppose the type of minutes he was getting with us disguised some of his flaws. But we knew he was a project, for sure. No reason to rush this kid. Let him develop and he'll be fine.

Well, the good news is that Sam will get a chance to redeem himself in that there's a second game that he'll get an opportunity to play in. I kind of expected Sam to have a bit of difficulty and now that the first game is out of the way, he'll probably have a real strong second game. From all accounts that I heard, he was embarrassed by the way he played and he was a bit angry with himself. To me, I love the fact that he was embarrassed and angry with his game. It shows he gives a crap and he takes these things seriously. That's a sign of a great player and I think in game two, we're going to see a completely different player on the ice.
