Bringing him in the NHL at 19 with his size + style of play would be disastrous.
That's exactly what I was thinking about, Hudon is gritty, and is not afraid to crash the net, but damn, he will get killed unless he learns to pick his spots better. I hope management saw that too.

On another note, while Bournival doesn't have high end talent, and relies mostly on physical condition, skating and tenacity, I wonder if he could become what Kirk Maltby was for the Wings for years, a tenacious, defensive specialist. Thinking the same about Vail (if he doesn't bust), in fact, having Vail-Bournival becoming the new Draper-Maltby would be great for our bottom lines. (can't always have PPG scorers, we need these guys)

They switched the teams up a little for today's scrimmage:

The 2013 - 2014 season is beginning for our illustrious Habs and the Jr. Habs. It's hard not to notice that somebody is actually piloting the ships and the crews are well versed in their duties.

Finally the GM (Bergevin knows hockey and how to build winning teams) has brought in some truculent help for the present and future health of our players. No longer will the fans have to pay good money to watch games where headhunting was the entertainment, not hockey.

Whether or not the teams make the playoffs this season, isn't as important as the progress that has been made towards having balanced teams. Teams that will make the playoffs on a regular basis, win series, battle hard and leave no doubt they are contenders for the SC every year.

My thinking is the Habs are a team in transition and their prospects need to play in the AHL. Getting quality icetime to ply their trade and gain experience against older pros in the best league outside of the NHL.

The time spent on their development at that level will optimize the individual talents, while learning the Habs system and molding each player into integral pieces of a well oiled machine.

When they learn this way, they will exude confidence in their play and their teammates play. So as Hab rookies the system learned in Hamilton will make their transition smooth as silk and the confidence transfers as Hab players.

The coach can concentrate on the games and opposition, instead of on training players to play in a new system. Then practices can be focused on the opposition and the team is being run like a professional team should. This my friends is how the Habs were built in the "Glory Days" of which people always talk about.

Bergevin, his staff, the players (AHL, NHL, Juniors) are working together as it was in the past, a team built with one purpose in mind. (Win the Stanley Cup) Bergevin IMO should have been "Executive of the Year" last season, but individual goals like those aren't even in Marc's thoughts as he lays out the course for the Habs Voyage to the Top.

#Habs: Michaël Bournival marque le 1er but des blancs. Il déjoue Michael Condon.

Yet, great thinkers here don't understand the pick.

Sometimes pros are pros for a reason. Not saying Crisp will surprise and exceed their expectations, but sometimes, it's best to wait and see.

On a side note, judging from the posts here, looks like Chaumont is the only guy who is decent enough to give some feedback on the scrimmage? Gaston Therrien sure didn't say a lot.

This Chaumont guy is quickly becoming my favorite journalist.

Do we know if Fournier is just banking shots in off Crisp, or what? 'Cause it's no secret that Crisp converts garbage goal opportunities, just like its no secret that his offensive value begins and ends there.

I don't know how things will turn out but personally I love everything I've read and heard from Crisp. He wants this so bad and I'm glad he will push himself to the max to get there

As for the journalist part, well I would never follow or take anything seriously from Therrien

Well besides Gallagher and Prust we can use a few more players in front of the net picking up garbage goals

I don't think anybody banks on Crisp becoming an offensive player. More like a solid 4th line versatile player who punishes and fights for his team, while scoring the occasional garbage goal.

I'm sure he'll enjoy some modicum of success filling that exact role for years to come... in Hamilton.

It'd be amazing if it was all the time, instead of just most of the time, but whatever.
